How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Generally most existing garages can easily be converted into a habitable room integral or attached to the property if structurally sound .
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
After an initial inspection with the client we explain what is required to convert the garage into a habitable room in regards to building regulations which have to be applied for which incurs a fee we use a private company licensed to do so they complete all the forms and send them directly to the local authority.
Most conversions come under permitted development rules only building control approval is required. Within a week of our inspection we provide a details estimate/specication confirming the completion time of the project and our earliest commencement date which can only be reserved subject to a deposit with a firm signed order.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Most lofts are convertible the modern roof A frame roof structures mainly introduced in the 60s and 70s are more complicated compared to older the older houses.Existing hight is important min 2.3 m required. Position of stairs is important in some cases a room may be lost to facilitate.

After initial inspection the viability to convert is discussed exposing any obvious problems . If decided to proceed plans with Strutural calculations have to submitted to the the local authority both incurring separate fees from the contract price we provide based the specification . Planning consent is not required if the proposed floor area is under 50 m2 and has a dormer window to the rear of the property. Building control approval is required.
