We applied for a lawful development certificate for a garden office, which requires professional elevation, site and block plans. Lee was highly recommended by somebody on the Godalming Community Facebook, so I gave Lee a call. We already had a very good idea of what we needed, and only needed the diagrams. However, after a few short consultations with Lee, we were able to use Lee's expert advice to adjust the building dimensions to better suit our needs. How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
If the garage is an original feature of the original house as it was first built or as it stood on 1 July 1948. Then it may be considered suitable under conversion under permitted development rules.
One of the main factors to consider is the floor to ceiling height. If the dwelling floor height is significantly higher, then the roof of the garage may need to be raised to form an opening through.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Generally if a loft has a floor to ridgeboard of approx. 2.4m then there is potential for a conversion. However there are so many elements involved in the process that the best thing to do is have a professional visit to take the project in the full context of the property.

There are several routes to carrying out the design and implementation of a loft conversion. The best way to do this is to arrange for a professional to visit to discuss and give the best advice based on the actual situation and not a generic situation.
What do you love most about your job?
Taking empty space and forming something that the client can be proud to inhabit. The best part of the job is seeing the finished article and knowing its what the client dreamt of.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After working for different design studios in my career, it became apparent that many wanted to design projects that would suit themselves, rather than focus on what the client wanted to achieve. I started Architectural Designs with the aim of focusing on creating designs that the client would want to live in rather than what id want to live in.
