The diversity of people and places as well as the challenge of coming up with succinct design solutions to sometimes complex problems.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Having worked in commercial architecture all over the UK I have seen plenty of things to admire and plenty of things that need change in the architecture and construction industry, these are the lessons I try to apply to my projects at Arch Hive.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Masks are always made available during design consultations and if requested the majority of contact excluding site assessments can be carried out remotely.
Feasibility & Concept Design
Starting with an initial meeting to conduct a site assessment, this stage involves developing a detailed brief for the project and a thorough investigation of the site leading to delivery of the initial concept design taking into consideration; massing, orientation, daylighting, layout, solar heat loss & gain, external materials and services.
Planning
Taking forwards the initial concept design, the planning stage is an iterative process to settle on a fixed design before the planning drawings and documents are compiled. Managing the submission and planning process on your behalf involves liaising with stakeholder, other design professionals and the local planning authority.
Tender & Building Control
Turning the consented planning scheme into a detailed pack of drawings and specifications, coordinated with other disciplines and ready to build from. This information is also used to gather detailed prices back from contractors as well as obtaining the necessary building control approvals.
Construction Management
Dealing with the daily comings and goings on site, ensuring quality workmanship from contractors and oversight of the build from start to finish.
