We worked with AM&AR CONSTRUCTIONS for the refurbishment of my flat in West London, which included new kitchen, new bathroom, new flooring, new electrics and full painting of the apartment.
From start to completion everything was absolutely exceptional. Great communication during the whole project. They always kept us updated for any progress or potential challenges. The most essential part for us, was to stay in budget and to keep the timeframe we required and they absolutely ticket both those boxes. Really great team, very approachable and very high quality work. We definitely recommend them!

Painting & Decoration - Interior
AM&AR Construction are great to deal with, very willing and they have a great work ethic. We used them for a reasonably comprehensive painting job and whilst they worked hard, worked long hours and were very willing to take on advice, they are not professional decorators and the skill level varied significantly amongst team members, so the initial finish was mixed and sometimes below the standard expected for the price point. That said they always did their best to correct and I was generally satisfied by the end result. How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
A simple way to calculate this is by measuring the gross internal floor area of all the existing top floor rooms under the loft you want to convert. Most lofts can provide at least 20m2 of gross floor area which, on paper, should be more than enough for a double bedroom. However, not all of this space will be useable.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Stage 1
Scaffolding is erected to provide independent access to the loft.
Stage 2
Structural beams are installed into party walls to form independent timber floor support and front roof elevation with dwarf wall.
Stage 3
Create dormer structure and install velux windows.
Stage 4
Complete roof tiling to both new dormer and front roof elevation.
Stage 5
Build interior partician, doorways and ceilings.
Stage 6
Install double glazed windows. Floor and wall insulation.
Stage 7
Create new access staircase between loft conversion and first floor.
Stage 8
Then plasterboard throughout and finally finish with a plaster skim.
