When seeing the nurse you are seen fairly swiftly however when seeing one of the doctors there can be much longer waits - some (not all) of the receptionists need lessons in manners - overall a good clean efficient place

AKEA Life... My prayers have been answered! My husband and I have a busy work/home life with three young boys and a growing 24/7 business and so I enrolled for a family membership with AKEA, mainly for the reassurance of a GP when you need one, same day, either by phone or for a home visit. Over the past few years we have spent many days in A&E when we have been unable to get to see a GP or when it’s been out of hours. I appreciate the demands on the NHS but after the last few experiences where we were kept in for days when we felt we would be better off at home, we felt it necessary going forward to find an alternative service. From this, we came across AKEA Life and since joining in February 2018, we have already established a relationship with our local AKEA Life GP. The service with AKEA is as you would expect, convenient, quick and above all, professional. You make an initial call to outline your requirements and someone gets back to you, quickly. A GP has been to see us on a few occasions now, same day, at home and private prescriptions have been provided. Absolutely brilliant! We have even tried the prescription delivery service. My husband and I went away for a few days in April and it was peace of mind knowing that if any of our children were ill again, we could call AKEA from our mobiles and get over the phone advice or a home visit... and wouldn’t you know, it happened! I started to look for an alternative to the NHS after a particularly traumatic trip to A&E with my 1yr old daughter. The illness was something that needed a GP but due to the lack of appointments we were advised to go to A&E. Due to the sheer demand on the doctors that evening we didn’t see a doctor until 3am - finally leaving hospital at 6am. As much as I sympathise with the stressed placed up on the NHS I didn’t feel I could face this again. Once I found out about Akea Life I started to discuss the options with Ben. The personable nature of Ben and the doctors filled me with confidence in the team & the service they were offering. The medical done by an Akea doctor highlighted an issue in my bloods which led them to be able to better advise me on the supplements I was taking and I also received advise on the inhalers I’ve been using incorrectly for most of my life. Since becoming Akea members we have had the benefit of additional vaccinations for our daughter not available on the NHS - administered in the comfort of our own home - far more convenient and comfortable than additional trips to a clinic. My children have had the opportunity to meet the doctors and therefore see familiar Faces if we ever need to call up on a doctor. Akea haven’t only offered us the comfort of knowing we can get a same day appointment in the comfort of our own home - they are also a source of information and comfort for me to call up on as a mother of 2 children.
