I met with Andy (the owner) and we discussed what needed to be done. I received a written estimate which properly contained all of the details we discussed. From the moment the crew arrived, they deviated from the agreed to work. Wrong removal, wrong installation, wrong material. I noticed immediately that things were being done incorrectly. When I reach out to Andy (the owner) I was simply ignored. They walked away from the job and communication completely stopped. Over the span of 2 weeks, I left 2 voicemails, sent 5 texts, and one email. Every attempt to contact them was left unresponded. Worst customer service we have ever had. We hired Grounds Guys in Collingwood to do landscaping in our back yard, June 2020. New grass (sod) some stone work, supposed to have regraded parts of the yard that were always wet. They charged us for 2 inches of top soil, which they did not put down. When we questioned why, the lead on the job said it wasn’t necessary and that the sod would take just fine without it. After they completed the job, we were happy with it. The stone work looked nice, and sod was ok. So we paid for the work, despite they charged us for the top soil, which I did not notice until afterwards. Then suddenly the sod started dying and would not take in many spots. I contacted the lead for the job and he came by and said he was not sure what the problem was with the sod but that he’d talk to Dave. NEVER heard back from Grounds guys despite several follow-ups. In April 2021 I contacted Grounds Guys once again, to ask them to come out and have a look and fix it, since they have a 12 month warranty on the work. Dave came out, and said he’d have it regraded since the water was pooling worse than it was before they did the job. He said he’d have it aerated, he would replace the sod that was not taking and over-seed everything. NEVER heard back from Dave. I followed up with him several times, he finally responded in June and said that he was waiting for the freeze period to be over with and that he’d have someone out next time they were in our neighbourhood. NEVER heard back from him. I have followed up numerous times since. He never answers my texts or e-mails. I tried calling too. They offer a warrant but don’t really honour the guarantee it or stand by their work. This is crooked. They did a crappy job and did not make it right. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND Grounds Guys. I don't know what it takes to get proper service from these guys - too much to cite here. But not only do they not answer their phones, they do not return calls. The work is shoddy but we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and stay with them, because, like other reviewers, Nathan is a delight to "talk to." But it's all talk, no productive service whatsoever. They have high prices and I've paid for all regular service and additional service timely. I asked for quotes for other landscaping projects they said they did and once I finally got the quote MONTHS LATER, identified the work I wanted, Nathan mocked me saying they can't possibly do part of the work or they would lose money. The worst thing now is a broken sprinkler they've looked at before without fixing it.
