This place is so good! Always get my cupcakes from here, the minis are a great option because then everyone can try a couple and the quality has never once faded or changed in the couple years we've been going here. Price is good too

I had my daughter's 10th birthday party at Sweet Bites this past month, and it was fantastic! They closed the bakery for our party, and gave us an AWESOME cake-decorating experience for my daughter and her friends. The girls absolutely loved decorating their very own full sized cakes to take home, and they especially loved getting to eat the 'example cake' for dessert after their pizza. We'll definitely do this again! More...

Kathy baked our wedding cake for July 2018. We initially set up a consultation, when Kathy explained the various options and flavours. It was helpful that the shop sells cupcakes, so that we were able to taste the potential cake flavours. Another plus was that everything is peanut and nut free. Having guests with allergies, this was very useful. Kathy delivered and set up the cake the day of the wedding, making the entire process effortless. The cake itself was beautiful, and DELICIOUS. Thank you so much Kathy! More...

After calling around to find someone who could do a lemon cake we thought we were out of luck. Then we spoke to Kathy and she was happy to make one. We gave her a tight deadline and her customer service was over and beyond what we would have expected. The cake was four layers of delicious! It was moist and had a great flavour. Everyone at the party agreed it was the best lemon cake they have had. It was nice to eat a cake that did not taste synthetic; the buttercream frosting was perfect. Thank you for making our event extra special with your homemade cake! More...

Best cupcakes I've ever had! Seriously.Super moist cupcakes.Toppings were amazing and creamy. I've tried both buttercream and cream cheese frosting. And I love that the cupcakes were the right amount of sweetness!I've tried a lot of different cupcake places and they are just too much sweet overload. This place makes cupcakes to perfection! I would've given perfect stars if they had a lot of variety of cupcakes for me to choose! More...

I needed to buy 2 dozen cupcakes last minute for a party. I read several reviews before deciding where to go (it wasn't sweetbites originally). I was telling my sister where I planned to go and she suggested I visit sweetbites instead. I went to Yelp and noticed the last review was from 2013! I was like, pretty sure that's not a good sign?! So glad I went anyways! Their cupcakes were so so so good!I usually go to parties where no one touches the cupcakes. But 2 minutes after laying them out, all 24 were gone! I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of them! I will definitely return to order from sweetbites again in the future. More...

Sweetbites is a small shop off Lakeshore Road E that specializes in awesome cupcakes. Inside there are two tables and a large display of cupcakes and other cakes. I ordered the coconut cloud cupcake. It looked like a nice fluffy down pillow. As a fan of coconut, I was not disappointed. There was lots of coconut on the outside as well as some mixed into the semi-liquid center. The price was not terrible either at $2.85 per cupcake. More...

Me and several other Yelpers dropped by for Kathy's decorating class on a Sunday afternoon (this was a while ago but I forgot to write a review, oops! ). We learned how to decorate cupcakes with buttercream icing and fondant. Initially, we learned how to fill and pipe an icing bag with buttercream. Afterwards, we learned how to colour, mold, and cut the fondant. It was a lot of fun and even the guys had a blast learning too! These classes isn't something that Kathy usually does but I'm pretty sure you could ask her and set something up. The store is pretty small so you can probably fit about 5-6 of your friends for a decorating class. It's also pretty cheap for the class which we only paid $12.I learned that Sweetbites not only sell sweets (ie. cakes) but they also do lunches where they sell freshly made sandwiches and snacks. Oakville, you are lucky and you don't even know it. Did you know that just a stones throw north of Lakeshore on the east side of Trafalgar there is a little sweet shop ('not' on the edge of town) making a big statement when it comes to cupcakes and cakes. A group of yelpers congregated here a warm sunny Sunday afternoon just over a week ago to take part in a 101 cupcake decorating class. Shop owner Kathy, aka the Oakville cupcake guru, walked us through how to decorate cupcakes in two different ways. Initially we learned how to load and tip a piping bag filled with her freshly made butter cream. Then using out tools we decorated our first cupcakes (a delicious dark chocolate) with the butter cream and an assortment of sprinkled toppings! For our second cupcake we got to learn how to colour, mold and design decoration for a cupcake out of fondant. Everyone picked a different colour and the end results were vibrant and uber creative for a bunch of baking rookies! While the classes aren't a regular feature, owner Kathy is incredibly flexible and with a call, I'm sure you could arrange a small class with her (we had 7 and it was tight). Perhaps a perfect idea for a birthday party!Sweetbites may be small but it's pushing out big flavour. They sell an assortment of flavour varieties but on any given day they also offer take away gourmet sandwiches and other lunch items for those in the area looking for a quick lunch!Baking EatCrest Out! I'm not out in Oakville often but when I am I definitely always drop by downtown Oakville's only specialty cupcake shop. It's small and cute and the owner is always there to serve you her cupcakes. What's best is that there aren't only cupcakes. Cookies and tea and coffee is offered as well. Don't forget their marcarons! The prices are right I'm always satisfied. I hear the owner makes specialty cakes as well, so I will keep that in mind for my next big event as well. Sweetbites is definitely a dependable neighbourhood bakery. More...

The weekend hockey was coming back, I found myself in Oakville, on my way to Toronto for the Maple Leaf's Monday home opener against the Buffalo Sabres. I am  not sure why I chose this particular place to satisfy a momentary need for sugar, but I am very glad I did. If you have read any of my reviews, I am not impressed by the overblown rash of cupcake shops that have dominated the landscape since Carrie went to Magnolia Bakery in Sex and the City. To me, Magnolia still reigns supreme. However, Sweetbites could give Magnolia a decent run for its money. I tried two cupcakes and two cookies. I tried the standard vanilla, it is what I use as the basis of any good review of a cupcake, and a lemon cupcake. The lemon cupcake was very fresh and moist. The vanilla on was dry but the flavor was dead on. A good cupcake shouldn't be dense and shouldn't taste like egg. Very poor cupcake shops and bakeries suffer from an "eggy" cupcake. In fact, even Sprinkles and Georgetown Cupcake suffer from such an affliction. This cake was light and tasted fresh. The frosting was where Sweetbites earns its praise. It is a true butter cream, but not "greasy." A greasy frosting is usually a result of shortening which shouldn't find its way into any true butter cream, but alas, in many bakeries, it does. As I said, the vanilla was dry. The lemon was fresh, moist and had a meringue topping. The meringue was excellent. I also had the thumbprint cookie. I would have preferred a more traditional version with a butter cookie and lots of jam, much like Rosie's Bakery in Boston. However, Sweetbites' version is still very good but lacking in jam. I urge anyone in Oakville to satisfy their sweet tooth or their craving for cupcakes at Sweetbites. I am telling you, they are far better than Sprinkles or Georgetown, so save some money and spend it at Sweetbites. More...
