Skylark Tree Care

My wife and I saw the Skylark Tree care team working on some trees in our neighbour’s yard and as they were completing their work, we asked them to look at our maple tree. It’s a huge maple that seems to be over-growing as its branches are not only blocking our view of the street but also encroaching on our eaves and roof.After they cleaned up next door, Gaelan came to see us. He took the time to examine our maple tree and to ask us about our concerns. He explained to us that our tree was in danger of splitting in a few areas and recommended a cabling and bracing process to prevent that type of damage. He gave us a verbal estimate at that time and we told him that we would like to proceed after we return from vacation.Skylark Tree Care followed up with a written estimate that was exactly the same as Gaelan’s verbal estimate. We paid the deposit and the service date was set. The day before the service date, we received an email confirming an 8 am start the next day.On that day, their team arrived, at 8 am on the button, and commenced their work. After a few hours of work, followed by an extensive cleanup of ALL the branches, leaves, and residue, the job was all done. And what a spectacular job it was!My wife and I were both totally happy with everything - the first assessment and estimate, the written estimate and invoice, the communication with Skylark Tree Care (before, during, and after the work), and the amazing friendliness of all the Skylark personnel we dealt with and who worked on our tree.We will be recommending Skylark Tree Care to our other neighbour as well as to anyone else we meet who may be in need of tree service. They responded quickly and showed up within a few days to have a look at the work - Gaelan made some suggestions re: hydro/Rogers line that went through the trees and through his suggestions, we ended up saving money on the job because of a discount he offered (to disconnect during the removal process).A very detailed quote came in via e-mail on the next day, we confirmed the job and after paying the deposit, had a day booked to do the job - with no lag time. Our spruce tree had outgrown our yard so it had to go to make way for new. Gaelan’s price was competitive but his professionalism put him over the top to get the job and the professionalism showed through the entire job. The crew showed up on time and did a great job removing the tree and grinding out the stump. After inspection they took out the grinder again and removed even more of stump following the surface roots and did a great job of cleaning up the yard. I was very selective when I chose Skylark. I wanted a company who put tree health above all else.The initial assessment of my two at risk trees was done very quickly. Gaelan provided an extensive review of the trees and made recommendations: one could be saved, but one was in decline with perhaps only a couple of season left at best. His expertise in was evident as he showed us all the telltale signs of the tree's stress as it tried to compensate for the failing limbs and how it would deteriorate further in a short amount of time. He also confirmed that anything you do with a tree, even pruning, has to be done properly or you could hurt the tree more than help it.All our trees are at least 60 years old, so very large. We hired Skylark to remove the sugar maple, patch the hole in the trunk of one honey locust, prune both locusts from above the house rooftops, and remove a pyramid oak stump left after the tree had died and been cut down few years back.All work was exceptional. The crew showed up as scheduled and left the place in good order at the end of each day. The focus was on safety and proper tree care. The result is that both locusts look fabulous. They did not do anything to compromise these marvelous trees which I expect will still have a long life. I would not hesitate to hire them again or make a recommendation. More...

This guys are the real deal! My mom used them last year to remove a huge, dying, front of the house tree. I was so impressed that I called them to do work in both back yards, mine and my mom’s. They didn’t disappoint!! So much knowledge, great workmanship, super friendly, reasonable and they even cleaned everything up afterwards. We had a maple that I thought for sure had to come down do to disease but after careful inspection, it needed some nutrients and room for air flow. Our tree is still standing and by next year she will be grand again. We have had others out but they were only interested in cutting everything down. These guys are really your best bet, hands down. We have a large tree in our backyard with branches hanging low over our neighbour's property and wanted those branches cut back. Rather then cutting them off Gaelan suggested trimming off the ends to relieve the weight and then trimming off the dead wood throughout the rest of the tree. After getting a quote from someone who wanted to cut the whole tree down we were extremely happy with Gaelan's expertise and professionalism. He and his team did a great job! Galen and his crew were here today to "thin" out our Manitoba Maple and we couldn't be happier with the results. We wanted to allow more light into our yard and more sun on our pool, plus it was hanging over our neighbors yards and were concerned about possible limb loss and causing damages. Galen checked out our tree and reassured us that the tree was in good shape and not to worry about weak limbs, he then went into great detail about wht they would be doing with the tree. In the end not only does the tree look great and allowing in more light and sun to our yard but was done quickly with a great clean up of not just our but our neighbors yard as well, and at a very reasonable price.

Recently one of our shrub trees has become infested with Japanese beetles and begun to die. I found Skylark on Google and within a few hours of sending them a message was in touch with Gaelan and he arranged to come out on a holiday Monday with only a few days notice. I had an old Blue Spruce on my front lawn that was dying and leaning towards my driveway. When I first met with Gaelan, we discussed what needed to be done and was quoted a fair price. Today Gaelan and Bryan arrived to remove the tree. The tree, branches and stump were removed quickly and professionally. There was not a single branch left behind. Other than a small patch of dirt where the tree once stood, you'd never even know a tree was there. A great job done by a great company. I would highly recommend them for tree service. I cant say enough good things about Gaelan and his crew. I had 3 large trees removed from my backyard and they were right on the fence line. I still have no clue how they were able to do such an amazing job considering how tight the trees were to the fence line. They even removed the stumps. Gaelen was professional from start to finish. He provided a detailed written estimate and consulted extensively with us and our affected neighbours before removing a mature walnut tree with a trunk greater than 3 feet in diameter. There was no clear access to remove the cut limbs of the tree from our yard and it was surrounded by extensive landscaping and garden structures. The delicate job required precision and highly skilled work by a professional climber. We requested that as much of the valuable wood be preserved as possible to defray the cost of removal. Gaelen and his team were the only arborists who instilled confidence in us and were more than wiling to meet the challenge. He set a date for the work and accomplished the very difficult task in less than 4 days, including stump removal. Gaelen and his wife were excellent in communicating with us at all stages. It was necessary to go through our neighbour's back yard with the cut limbs. I needed a dead birch removed from my property. I contacted Skylark Tree Care to come and give a quote on the work required. Gaelan came over and looked at what we needed to have done. While he was there my husband had him look at a couple of other things we thought we should do (trim another tree and clean up a bush that had been removed. He was also, able to tell us what one of the bushes was called, as I want to replace it, we had to cut it down for some utility work.
Gaelan was professional, on time and was able to provide a quote right on the spot.
We said we would go ahead with work. I received a call that afternoon, to book the appointment. The work was completed a few days later. I looked at everything that was done and of course the tree was removed, the other tree was trimmed and the bush was removed, but other than that , the yard was all cleaned up from the work.
I also like the payment system used as it is easy to pay the deposit and the final bill as the work was done while we were at work.
