I've passed this bakery a thousand times driving through this residential neighborhood. I always wondered why the parking lot was so busy. Now I know.There's a bakery, hot food, cafe and deli section within this local, mom and pop grocery store. We were able to try the pizza, a fresh made sandwich, a pistachio donut, and espressos.Everything was absolutely delicious. There are some small tables and chairs, so if you need to have a quick meal right away you can. The pizza  : It was around $3.00 for a slice. The pizza itself was thin and tasty. It had some premium prosciutto and cheeses on it. Yummm  The sandwich  : $7 ish dollars. We chose a long bun from the bakery shelves and brought it to the deli counter. The lady cut the bun and asked what we wanted in it. We added prosciutto, salami, boccocini (soft cheese) and drizzled some olive oil on it. The bread was sooo soft and the portions were just right. If I'm too lazy to make my own sandwich, I would def come back here. Or I would even just buy some bread and deli meats to make my own at home.Mini Pistachio donut (zeppole) : I'm writing this review a bit after the fact, so I don't remember the price of this item. I do remember that it was every bit worth it!! The texture was so perfect and it was not very sweet, which I like. I will be back to try SEVERAL other pastries.Espressos were good. It was all out 100% Christmas-time at Rustic.  Santa was there, having pictures taken with kids.  I figured I was too old and did not want to break Santa's knees.  It was really cute, they had elves, reindeer and it looked exquisite, right out of a picture postcard.If you are looking for comestibles for Christmas, GET HERE NOW.  Their shelves are bulging with Italian imports of the finest.  Figs, different pastries, nougat which is out of this world made with a variety of flavourings.  The hot counter looked very inviting today - they actually had huge racks of pork ribs which looked soooo tempting.This is one of my favourite olde-world-olde-school places which I never tire of.  Mille grazie, Rustico.  Merry Christmas! I grew up near this place and I still come here from time to time for lunch or just to buy their bread. It's one of those places that brings back great memories. Try their pastries and cakes they're amazing and last but not least their bread especially the olive bread which is off the charts. Even their cold cuts are the freshest I've ever had. This is THE bakery to go to in the North York area. From cakes and pastries to bread and pasta, they do not disappoint. I have been there several times and will continue to buy from them. I highly recommend Rustic Bakery.

After recently moving into the area we needed a good bakery/deli that was close and Rustic fits the bill perfectly. Their hot table is great and usually mostly stocked even after prime hours(they are open late). Their pizza is delicious as are all their pastries. The cold cuts/cheese selection is very good and fresh as is their grocery selection considering how small the store is. More...

Rustic bakery is a cool place to visit.  It's in a residential area along with homes and a great Italian neighbourhood.  I always order their pizza's although the they have a variety of hot, cold and baked goods. What a hidden gem! I found Rustic Bakery after my little sister told me randomly that she wanted to try cannoli for the first time. It was Canada day so I wasn't sure if anything would be open, but thankfully Rustic was (I called them to confirm). The location is nestled in a little neighbourhood just off of Lawrence Ave by Blackcreek Dr. They had a few different kinds of cannoli. I got the regular kind and the one with chocolate chips. THESE WERE THE BEST CANNOLI I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Admittedly, I am not Italian nor have I been to Italy but these were the best I've ever had in the city. The cheese wasn't too sweet. The pastry outside was crunchy. They've also got a large assortment of different Italian pastries such as tiramisu, phyllo pastries, cakes etc. that I plan on trying eventually.  In the back they have a hot foods section that includes lasagna, pastas, veal, chicken etc. that you can purchase either for eating there (there are a few tables right out front where you can eat) or take out. I wanted a meatball sandwich when I was there but they didn't have any meatballs that day, probably because it was a holiday. There's also a full deli with various cheese and meats like provolone and salami. On the right there's a small supermarket where you can get your essentials like eggs, milk and produce.  There is parking just right outside, although it is quite limited. There's approximately 15 spots available for the little plaza but I think a lot of people are in and out. You could also park along the smaller neighbourhood streets as well. Service was friendly. The girl who got my deli meats kept asking me to repeat myself and didn't give me the right amount of cheese (200g when I asked for 100g but then who's complaining, the more cheese, the better haha) but I think she was new. great authentic Italian bakery!!  Family owned and operated, their pride shows in the cleanliness, friendliness, quality.   I go often for lunch, great hot table in the back for fast healthy choices .   Tip; try to get a young lady to help you!  a couple of the old-ladies who work in there are a bit grumpy/impolite.     Followed up lunch with a fresh made Cannoli and coffee. I work just up the street and go to the Rustic Bakery every once in a while, I go for lunch. The food is good, not the same as Nona's but its comparable! Depending on what you get, they can be a little over priced for lunch. The cakes and pastries are delicious and not overly expensive. I really like to buy my pastries from here, they are worth the money. I haven't sat down to have an espresso but we do take them out sometimes for our office, they are good. The service is also good, they are fast and polite. All in all, in this area its probably the best Italian Bakery. More...

My parents live in the area.  I have loved this bakery from the first day I have walked into it.  The staff is always and I mean even if they are busy always been courteous and warm with me.  I live in Barrie, ON and I will drive down to Rustic Bakery for a cannoli or for their nocciola cake...my all time favourite.  They made our daughters wedding cake and it was perfect.  The food is always fresh.   Overall I have never been disappointed with this bakery.  Offers everything Italian I need under one roof. I really, really like Rustic Bakery.In fact, I wish that it was franchised and that another location would open closer to my home. I was in the area the other day and my companions were jonesing coffee after a very long workshop. Their cafe beats Starbucks, Lettieri, or Second Cup ... the price is so reasonable and the service is excellent. For one double espresso, two lattes, and four cannolis I paid under $10. If I were at Starbucks, my total would be four times that amount. Woohoo! As good as it gets! More...

I am a first generation Italian and my parents were caterers. I have a good sense of what is good and not. this place has an awesome hot table, a diverse selection of italian breads, awesome, i mean awesome pasteries (authentic) and cakes, by this i mean the closest i have taste that compares to Italy. try it out, its not on a main street but is easy to find especially in todays society...btw...go early on weekends before 10 am or all the breads and good stuff will be gone.....
