About

Hello! My name is Kristen and I am owner and Piano Educator at Impact! Music Studio. I have been running my studio for a little over 10 years and am extremely fortunate to be able to do what I love for a living. It's this passion that drives me and allows me to provide the best music education for my students.

Q&As

Watching my students thrive and develop a deep love for music is what makes my job worth doing!

I lost music for a while. Growing up music was a major part of my life but, I suffered a wrist injury when working on my piano degree and was not able to finish. This left me with a "what am I going to do with my life" dilemma. Teaching wasn't an obvious option at the beginning but, after starting my family I realized that it wasn't the end of my music career and that my career just needed to shift. Once I started teaching again I realized my passion in music didn't solely lie in performing but, in sharing the beautiful art and knowledge of music with others.

This is what I love to do and it shows in my teaching. If you become my student I will do everything in my power to make sure you succeed. I work very hard to make sure lesson plans include group activities and fun activities that weave perfectly into the weekly lesson. It's also a great place for students to meet friends with similar interests. For every class I create contact lists so families may contact each other if students would like to meet outside of class (with permission of course)

I can teach online as long as the student receiving lessons has a strong internet connection, piano/keyboard, and a laptop or tablet.

Online lessons aren't much different than in person lessons. Music teachers use their ears more than anything and we can hear just as well online as we can in person. If the camera angle of the student is correct than we are able to see exactly how we would see in studio as well. There are many perks to receiving online lessons and very few cons! For more information please take a look at the blog posts on my website.

It's completely virtual and as far as I'm aware covid-19 doesn't jump through the wifi :P. We will all be safe no matter where in the world we are!
