Q&As

The Proven 6-Step Process We Use with Every Design Client
The interior design process can seem like a complex one if you’re not familiar with it. And as a potential client, it makes perfect sense that you’re not familiar with it.

But let me assure you, it’s a really stress-free journey for you, because we’ve been following the same procedures for so long. We ironed out any kinks years ago and we’re now in a consistent groove that works.

We don’t stray from our proven process because we know it inside out. By using the same framework with every client, we reduce stress for them and us. We know what stages we have to go through to get a exceptional result. And so we never gravitate away from this structure. It keeps the project as easy, fast and affordable for you as it can be.
1. Consult
The interior design process starts with a consultation. This is where I come to your home and spend up to 90 minutes with you. It’s the all-important first step.

2. Concept
When you’ve read through my post-consult email and feel comfortable with the estimated product spend and design fee, we will meet again with you to sign the design agreement. That’s stage two of the interior design process underway.

3. Specify
The Specify stage is the third part of the interior design process. It’s where I go away and do an interior design plan which includes the floor layouts, the elevations, all the products proposed for your project, and last but not least, the 3D colourised renderings that almost look like photographs of what your new look will be like. We believe in -See it before we Build it- Every client gets excited at this stage because they can see the final result.

4. Source
Once we have a final list of products approved by you , it’s time for us to go to all of our various suppliers and get quotes from them. This is also when we schedule a trade day. You do not need to organise any trades as I have my own team of trades who I work with all the time. They’ll meet me at your property on a nominated trade day. You will be there, of course, but I take the headache away from you by managing this process end to end.
This part of the interior design process can take a few days because for some projects there could be 20 different suppliers we’re getting product from (sometimes more).a list of products together for you to review and agree to purchase. This could take a few weeks to complete.

5. Implementation
The implementation is when all the dirty stuff happens...meaning construction! This will include the plumbers, the electricians, drywallers, painters, custom cabinet makers, carpenters, you name it...there will be a lot of folks working in your home! This takes a few weeks and sometimes months to get completed, depending on the scope of your project.

6. Style
Woohoo! The Style part of the journey is the last and most exciting component of the entire interior design process. This is where we come to your home and put all the furniture in its place as per the layout we provided in the design plan concept document. At this stage, we’ll also line up trades to install the various items they need to install, if required. Our window people will come and install your curtains. Our electricians will come and install pendant lights if we’ve specified them. Our hangers will come to fix art and mirrors to the walls. This installation day might also be spread out over a few days due to availability of the trades, so we need some flexibility on your part here.

We cater to your taste. The influence we bring to you is one that make your taste and personality shine. Whether it Traditional, Transitional, Mid Century Modern, Minimalist or English Country Maximalist, the end result will reflect YOU.

What do you think? We LOVE collaborating with our clients and seeing them be overjoyed with the end results.

I was re-arranging furniture in my grandmother's house when I was 7 years old. I was doing room illustrations when I was 10, because I liked to play around with colour. After marrying an architect, he's the one who pushed me to start interior decorating and designing because working in the credit department of a credit card company was NOT my idea of fun. He recognised my talent and encouraged me to pursue it. Once I started, there was no turning back. I attended York University, Brock Univ & Niagara acquiring accreditations in business, visual arts and interior design.

Our many years of designing for the corporate sector, in the hospitality and government office fields, building new homes, and having had jobs that cover every single aspect of home or office renovation, has taught me specifically where to spend the money and where to save. This is where we use our expertise to help you in making decisions you will not regret.

Beginning work in the design field in 1980, we worked in the Simpsons interior design studio, and operated a decorating paint and wallpaper store from 1983 to 1991. From 1991 to 2010, our focus was designing corporate offices and hotels. Since 2011, our joy in designing has been on the residential side, designing award winning kitchens, bathrooms, and all aspects of decorating your beautiful interiors.
