Absolutely brilliant. When my wife first proposed that we have a birth photographer at take shots during labour I was against it. My issue with employing a birth photographer was that there was going to be another body in the room during birth, I already had a camera to take photos and the expense. After much persuasion from my wife we agreed on Chantel would come and take the photos of the birth. She came and spent the entire time with us, but you wouldn’t even know she was there, the labour was intense and there was no time or thought given to taking a snap with my camera, and even if there was time, my camera, lens and lack of training would have been woefully inadequate in the dimly lit room and situation. Chantel captured the emotion and atmosphere of labour, the power of my wife during the experience, the heroism that brought my son into the world, the first photo of my son in my arms and I forgot she was even there. Intense times and a lack of sleep will fade memories, but Chantel captured them for us to have forever. You can’t put a price on that. More...
