About the lesson :
I am a strong believer in steady progression, starting from strong techniques and fundamentals.
And of course, music lessons should be fun, happy and enriching.
I adopt a holistic approach in teaching music. All my lessons are tailored for the child/individual, learning at their comfortable pace, so as to gain confidence, self development and personal growth.
With over 13 years of experience and being a performer myself, I aim to coach and inculcate in my students an attitude of elegant performance with strong techniques and share the music whole-heartedly and passionately.
As seen in my credentials and accolades, I am a highly-qualified piano teacher, patient, high-spirited and hold Working With Children Check.
My studio is quiet and cosy. Lessons are conducted on a grand piano Yamaha C3, hence all students gain early exposure to a quality instrument, which is essential for developing strong techniques.
Having personally studied through both streams, I specialise in teaching both AMEB and ABRSM syllabus to students of varying ages and musical background. I understand the mindset of young kids starting on their piano journey, to young adults/teenagers, wanting to perform at a competitive level.
I am a versatile teacher and very adaptable to suit each student's needs and ability.
Lessons range from 30 minutes to an hour. (Rate : A$70/hour)
In my singing performance journey, I have won many awards and accolades. And I also love the challenge to continuously upskill with graded exams (currently AMEB Singing Repertoire Grade 5)
Hence, I am qualified and fluent in coaching pop music, classical, jazz, RnB and contemporary styles ~ teaching pitch, key, vibrato from beginners to advanced.
Lessons focus on the fundamentals of voice and breathing techniques to uncover your natural singing voice, mastering voice control, power and strength.
I will help build on your strengths, fill in the gaps and work on overcoming weaknesses at your own pace. With every lesson, you will improve and experience gradual breakthroughs.
Having studied and highly skilled in both piano and singing performance, lessons can also be combined as voice with piano or song-writing with piano.
My goal is to grow a community of aspiring musicians that share the passion of learning and performing music.
Music does bring people together ~ John Denver
A student is more likely motivated to practice, when they finish their lessons feeling capable and empowered.
About Me:
My aim is to inspire young minds to become the best musician they can be.
I personally started playing the piano at a young age of five and over the years, I accumulated extensive experience in performance, as well as achieving top marks in graded examinations (practical and theory).
In my performance journey, I won numerous awards, both locally and internationally. Most recently, I won the 2021 Kault Prize, awarded by the VMTA (Victorian Music Teachers' Association) and 2022 Ann and Chris Krans Music Award.
Previous awards include: First Prize in the 2019 Bernstein National Piano Competition, as well as prizes in 2019 Musical Society of Victoria’s Nehama Patkin Memorial Award, 2019 and 2021 Eisteddfod by the Bay The Reg Lil Lewis Memorial Romantic Era and 2020 Balwyn High School’s Music Scholarship, 2017 Waverley Music Eisteddfod, 2016 Melbourne International Music Competition, 2018 Best Haydn Performance, Music of The 19th Century, 2019 Best Mozart Performance, 2020 Best Debussy Performance in the Great Composers Competition.
In 2021, I was invited to perform live on radio - The Talent 3MBS (103.5FM). At the international front, I performed at the Carnegie Hall, New York in 2018 for the American Protégé Winners’ Recital.
While under the tutelage of maestro Mr. Glenn Riddle, a leading pedagogue, I was awarded the Associate in Music, Australia (AMusA ~ Distinction) and Licentiate in Music, Australia (LMusA) at a young age of 15 and 16 respectively.
And I have also attended various masterclasses by Dr. Kenji Fujimura, Professor Max Cooke, Richard Chamberlain, Darryl Coote and Elizabeth Mitchell.
I am a versatile teacher, fun, patient, high-spirited and very adaptable to suit each student's needs and ability, nurturing and honing their skills for performance to their best ability.
In the early years of honing my singing talent and skills, I was handpicked to join as the chorister with National Boys’ Choir of Australia (NBCA).
Follow-on, under the guidance of Melanie White, I won 2nd Prize in 2019 Music Society of Victoria’s Ron McNicol Vocal Award (age 18 and under), as well as the Eisteddfod By The Bay (2019 and 2017), 1st Prize in 2018 Balwyn High School Music Scholarship and 3rd Prize in 2016 Junior Vocal Melbourne International Music Competition at Deakin Edge.
Broadening my skills and experience, I have also attended voice lessons with Greg Mills, a musical director who has produced artists like Guy Sebastian, Marina Prior, The Young Divas and Wendy Matthews.
