Louis Michel Masai's Endangered Art

Louis Masai Michel explores the concept of human as animal through the painting of anthropomorphised creatures -- adorning them with sentiment, attributes and paraphernalia of the modern world.

"In my humanimaltations I seek to challenge how the viewer tolerates his or her own bestial nature, alongside relating to the struggle for survival faced in the animal kingdom."

In this video we Follow Masai painting endangered animals throughout Woodstock in Cape Town to raise awareness about critically endangered species.

Our goal is to raise funds for conservation through this documentary, his photobook and the arts that he creates.

Some scenes in this film is not for sensitive viewers and the documentation of the community in Woodstock and their actions does not represent the Artist. However, we aim to show that through the arts we can develop the troubled youth of Woodstock to gain interest in a good cause and help them to dedicate their lives to a higher purpose.
