Nutritional Department Chalkboards
My first attempt at drawing with Prismacolors on painted board. I really liked the classic, almost antique look of these portraits. I used liquid chalk on the verbiage boards. Even though they're placed pretty high above line of sight, a lot of people notice them & stare.
A new kind of super hero. One who teaches you about the nutrition in fruit.

Excelsior Hotel in Jefferson, Texas
A beautiful hotel built in the 1850's.
Portraits: Still my favorite means of self expression.
I've been drawing portraits (well, portraits that actually look like real people) for about 30 years. I never tire of trying to render the perfect expression or the subtle shadow that truly defines a person's face. Its so empowering to show someone how beautiful they really are.
The Silent Salesmen
Assorted signs from the store.
A detail of a larger painted board.
A very detailed menu, painted directly on the wall.
This is a taxing time of year for me. Seasonal chalkboards, illustrations, graphic designs & even painting on the floor. All this keeps me busy from Halloween right up until Valentine's Day. Sometimes It seems like I do some of my best work when I have the least amount of time though.
