Consultant neurosurgeon, head of department
National Institute of Clinical NeuroSciences
From October 1989
Building upon my previous experience working in Hungary as a consultant and in the UK as a locum consultant, I wish to return in a similar capacity and join a team of neurosurgeons. My previous training and experience would enable me not only to support my colleagues to cover the workload but possibly to bring new expertise into the practice.
During my training I had a thorough grounding in Neurology and Neurosurgery. Since joining my present department, the National Institute of Clinical NeuroSciences in Budapest, I was able to develop a high level of expertise both in routine medical and neurosurgical practice and in my specialist fields.
I am currently the head of Department C, 23 beds specializing in adult vascular and skull base neurosurgery. I have performed personally over 5000 operations, which honed my technique to be fast and efficient.
I took part in the development of advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques at the Institute, such as the supra-ciliary "key-hole" craniotomies for approaching the Circle of Willis and tumors of the frontal and temporal skull base, transfatial - retromaxillary, transnasal - orbitomedial approaches. I would bring similar "exotic approaches" into spinal surgery like split laminotomy or serial fenestrations which are especially important in pediatric practice saving the anatomical structures.
