Support Worker

Summary:

Currently I am employed as a Home Care Consultant. I have been working in the Social Care sector for years which has provided me with general care experience dealing with people from many backgrounds, such as learning and/or physical disabilities, challenging behaviour, mental health, substance misuse, homelessness and the elderly. I also have experience in IT and retail.

As a Support Worker I have cared and supported people in multiple settings, such as client homes, respite care, residential homes, nursing homes and day centres. I support people to gain their confidence and promote choice and independence in the community. My past experience has also given me an in-depth understanding of the importance of respect, privacy and confidentiality in regards to Service Users, their families and friends.

As a Home Care Consultant, I act as a role model to my candidates, providing support and advice for any issues that may arise with the day-to-day living requirements of our Service Users, meeting their needs and making their life as fulfilling as possible. In this role I:

• Provide Support Workers and Carers with guidance, support and training on a daily basis
• Manage and provide services to vulnerable Service Users from multiple backgrounds, all with different needs
• Ensure national minimum care standards are being met, as well as contract specifications for our internal policies and procedures
• Ensure the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the service is maintained and improved in accordance with a user-oriented approach with consideration to the work allocation policy of Support Workers and Carers
• Ensure Service Users are given every opportunity to contribute to their care plan
• Identify training and development needs and liaise with our training department to ensure these are implemented
• Maintain accurate and organised records of contacts with Service Users and all people involved in their care, including family members, Social Workers and carers
