Managing the team of Electrical Engineers/Designers in South Africa in the following aspects:

The primary responsibility of the Electrical Department is to safely provide electrical power on projects in accordance with legislation, standards and specifications. Electrical are required at all stages of projects, from bid estimate to client hand over of a completed facility.
My team provides services for conceptual, basic and detailed engineering and design including field construction support and commissioning. The Electrical Department is capable of providing engineering, design and specifications of switchgear, transformer, motor control centers, generators, etc.
Some of the capabilities of Electrical for designs are: development of area classification, single line diagrams, schematic & connection diagrams, substation layouts, cable routing (U/G and A/G), power & lighting layouts, earthing & lightning protection, heat tracing layouts and cathodic protection.
Electrical also have the capability of performing projects using 2D AutoCAD or MicroStation, and 3D Plant Design Systems (PDS). We also provide Power System Study capabilities, using the Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP PowerStation). Such studies include load flow analysis; short-circuit calculation, motor starting & re-acceleration, protection co-ordination and several others.

• Instrumental and responsible for managing and implementing many successful modifications and plant improvements in this area.
• Maintained an exemplary health and safety record over the period of 4 years safety record by achieving a Mini Noscar each year for averaging above 95 % in the safety audits. Appointed in terms of the Mines and Works Act under 2.13.3, 2.13.6, and 2.6.1 and 2.9.2 regulations.

• Appointed as 2.9.2 responsible person as per the Mines and Works Act.
• Seconded to Projects to update the electrical specifications and to assist in the compilation of specifications for the new Continuous Annealing Line.
• Served on the Controlling Body for Training for the Iscor Works.
• Periodically relieved as Manager Electrical Systems Iscor Vanderbijlpark (+ - 120 Technicians).
• Despite this post being primarily of a managerial nature I was still technically involved with the compilation of procedures, in-task technical training, specialised fault finding and optimisation pertaining to a modern steel mills.

I was instrumental in the design,construction, commissioning and hand over of the new building in Woodmead. 4 Star green building with all the latest technology. Completd 3 months before time. I moved 340 staff over a weekend and the Monday wa sbusiness as usual.
