Participates in instructing large aquatic leadership courses, ranging from ages 16 and older. I teach an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water-rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. I demonstrate and assist the rescuers in learning tows, carries, spinal removals, defense methods and releases in preparation for challenging rescuers of increased risk involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types. I help my lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a 500m-timed swim. As well, I provide senior and experienced lifeguards with the knowledge of how the heart works and what goes wrong when AED is required.
