Chief Community Liaison officer
Department of Health
From October 2012
I worked as Local Area Coordinator at Greater Taung Local Aids Council from 2004 to 2007, then as Assistant Director in Dr RSM District department of Health from 2007 to March 2011 and was given forced leave from 01 April 2011 till April 2012. I worked as Project Officer in Lekwa Teemane Sub District fro May 2012 till September 2012 and then i am currently working asa Chef Community Liaison Officer in Dr KK District Department of Health. I have occupied all these position working under the programme of HIV/AIDS, managing donor funds, conducting training for care givers, supervising subordinates and managing HR.
Coordination with stakeholders
As the District Project Manager during the EU funded project in the department of health, part of my KPA's was to facilittate training provided by service providers. It was within my resposibility to communicate with them and make presentations to make them understand how their trainings fit in to the departmental plans on NPO career path. The best coordination made was during facilitation of Ancillary Health Care training with Operation Blanket as the service provider. I was always available to assist them with logistical arragnements for the training and used my conflict management skill to address some of the challenges experienced whilst training was in progress.
Supervisory guidelines to NPO's
I developed a simple to read guide for the NPO's that were funded by the department. The document outlined alll the policy related issues tht nneded to be adhered to at all times by the NPO's. The document included guidelines on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), National Norms and standards for HCBC, Code of conduct and presented it to funded NPO's. My presentation led to a robust interaction with NPO's because they believed that the department was economic in playing open cards with them about of the procedures and acknoledged that their operations were not informed by such policy frameworks. Again , i displayed my knowledge on legal frameworks governing Partnerships of NPO with government/department.
Data collection and tools workshop
I developed a presentation on the above training for both care givers and professionls within the department of health. I presented the training targeting data capturers, information officers, programme coordinators and admin officers as the first workshop. It was during this workshop that i displayed knowledge of the topic. This came out during workshop evaluatio where all participants commented on my presentation skill and made iput that i conduct further workshops in future.l
NPO Mapping and Zonning project
I was requested to develop a mapping and zonning guidelines for the Partnership programme within the department of health whilst in contract funded by EU. I dveloped a map that indicated a health facility, with its different catchment areas, number of care givers in each catchment area, care givers case load in terms of clients/patients. This document was adopted and distributed to all Districts in the Province and was used as a guide to develop "Linkages to faccility's document'.
