• Streamlining and simplifying the process of scrutiny and processing of applications received from media persons for accreditation.
• Effective co-ordination at all levels of office to move issues of importance forward requiring urgent attention of the Principal Director General.
• Formulating press releases based on decisions of the Government of India.
• Analysing news fall on the television, the internet, the social media and the print media for presentation of short, crisp and effectively communicated reports to the Group of Ministers on Media of the Government of India.

• Drafting speeches for President of India and updating content on the website of the President of India.
• Management of media contingent for effective coverage of President of India's State Visits to foreign nations and within India.
• Extensively toured the world and India with the President, as part of assignment of media management.
• Opportunity to meet and interact with top officials of Government of India, especially those from the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Administrative Service (IAS)
• Developed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Environmental Impact Assessment for the Govt. of India Press at Rashtrapati Bhavan, as a member of the Core Team constituted by the President's Secretariat for the process of certification of the President's Estate for ISO 14001:2004 Environment Management System.

Ministries of Power and Non-Conventional Energy Sources

Key Result Areas
• Policy advocacy of the Ministry of Power during a period when emphasis of Government of India was on unbundling state power utilities under the Accelerated Power Development and Restructuring Programme (APDRP) and reduction in subsidy component in power tariffs for domestic, industrial and agricultural consumers, modernizing Transmission and Distribution (T & D) systems across State Electricity Boards.
• Advocacy involved co-ordination and networking within the ministry for proper focus in advocacy efforts. Formulating communications strategy with media and formulation of media and publicity strategy of the Ministry
• Policy advocacy for the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources during a time when awareness amongst public and industry was low about the benefits of investing in non-carbon based sources of power. Worked against the scepticism amongst stake holders in this area.
• Opportunity to understand mechanics of policy formulation in Government of India.

Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers

Key Result Areas
• Policy advocacy of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers during a period when Government of India policy focus was on reducing fertilizer subsidy.
• Advocacy also involved co-ordination and networking within the ministry for proper focus.
• In addition as pharmaceuticals were also under the domain of this ministry worked on advocacy and closely observed the working out of new pharma policy of the Government of India.


Non-Conventional Energy Sources

Key Result Areas
• Worked on afforestation policy of the government and its dissemination to stakeholders, as well as programmes such as cleaning of rivers as well as policy to reduce urban pollution. Advocacy included co-ordination for bringing stakeholders together.

Key Result Areas
• Focus was on increasing foodgrain production in the country and creating more effective links between labs, extension workers and farmers. Advocacy work included visiting the field to understand the concerns of stakeholders such as farmers.

• Compiled national prime time news bulletins during a time when Doordarshan was only news channel in India.
• Work involved being updated on 24 x 7 basis on major political and economic events of domestic and global importance, through thorough reading and research.
• Going through news events of the day and sifting out unimportant news events, to create national prime time news bulletins.
• Simple communicative language used in news bulletins to explain complex news events and their implications to the viewer, without sacrificing on the important and complicated aspects of these developments.
• Skills needed included brevity and clarity without losing major focus of important news events.
• Also assigned major news assignments as correspondent. Involved daily preparation, through research of the subject to be covered for complete understanding of context and background to subject being handled.
