Panigrahy - Hydrologist - Sambalpur, Odisha, India

Niranjan Panigrahy

Sambalpur, Odisha, India

I have over fifteen years experience in the field of Hydrological Modeling for various infrastructure areas including water resources management. I have experience of working in the water resources field including hydraulics, flood routing, hydrological modeling, primary and secondary analysis of precipitation and discharge data, water availability analysis, estimation of design flood though statistical and hydrograph approach, water balance models and model coding.
Presently I am working with Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology at its All India Coordinated Research Project on Water Management, Chiplima, Orissa as Senior Scientist (Agricultural Engineering). This project involves development methodologies, both at laboratory and farmers field, for enhancing water productivity. I am responsible for analysis of meteorological data; interpret the outcome of various on station research experiments, preparation of reports and design of new experiments for water management. In my previous job as a Scientist at National Institute of Hydrology, I was involved in hydrological modeling, estimation of design flood for large water resources structures, design of raingauge networks, preparation of project reports etc.
I have an excellent knowledge of the multi-disciplinary focus of integrated water resource management and worked on in house and sponsored projects. I have worked in the developing country scenarios and applied the advanced techniques for developing software for various research needs. Quite a few software utilities developed by me have been appreciated by government organisations like the India Meteorological Department, National Water Development Agency etc.
