Work History

Police Constable West Midlands Police and West Mercia Police

February 1995 - July 2014

day. I joined West Mercia Police in 1995 serving all my Service at Kidderminster Police Station.
In 2008, I transferred to West Midlands Police, I did this as I wanted the challenge of working for a larger metropolitan Force and the chance to work in a more challenging inner city area.
Presently a beat officer in a diverse area of Wolverhampton, challenging area to work due to it being a priority area, which is based on a number of social, educational, employment and crime factors. On a daily basis I perform high visibility foot patrol dealing with members of the public and partner agencies, dealing with persons from a very large variety of ethnic backgrounds. Since joining the police I have held a number of roles, from working in the control room and dispatching and managing officers attending incidents. I have been on a large number of public order incidents, ranging from animal rights protests to football matches and have policed 2 G8 Summits and a number of political party conferences.
I deal with confrontation almost on a daily basis and deal with incidents in a fair and impartial manner.
All of my working life I have worked to deadlines and dealt with confrontation. I am used to working anti social hours, changing my shifts to suit the requirements of the business.

Upon Leaving the Airforce and prior to joining West Mercia police in 1995. I was employed as a landscape gardner, working as part of a team to help in the construction of a new office of a large insurance company in Birmingham. During the initial construction phase I assisted in the planting and setting of the many semi mature trees and shrubs and lawns. Once the construction phase was completed, I was then employed on the same site as grounds maintenance.
