Corsetiere - Fashion Designer - London, England, UK

Nicol DeNoir Corsetiere

London, England, UK

Nicol DeNoir is a fashion label with a new concept to corsetry. Originally started in 2006 just as a corsetry business and redeveloped in 2010 to create a unique collection by Nicola Desnoes a Fashion Design graduate from the 'University of Westminster' for creative industries.

Prior to her studies, she worked for two years in the Beauty Industry as a Model and Beauty Consultant, advising customers on skincare and makeup application, meeting all types of women from all backgrounds.

Continuing to work while studying to fund her degree Nicola decided to give up on modelling and the beauty industry and focus solely on developing fashion, styling, costume and manufacturing experiencing allsorts of interesting challenges and techniques throughout music, film theatre and specialist fashion companies, such as leather, latex, Couture embroidery and luxury goods.

Nicol DeNoir started off simple, producing corsets for individuals to learn more about the business side of things while testing the market. Once establishing a gap in the market to try something new and realising how women felt about corsets, she was then able to present an edge to an already existing product and use innovation to turn corsetry into something new.

In the earlier days women relied solely on garments that enhanced the female form, showing off natural curves or creating a silhouette to establish beauty. Developed to bring out the beauty within the woman who is wearing the garment.

Modifying the female form, tight lacing, boning and a steel busk was originally introduced to give the wearer the appearance of a tiny waist, slimmer silhouette and a beautifully developed and shapely figure, using traditional techniques for the purpose of producing high end fashion garments for creativity and produced only to be worn as outerwear.
