Managing the Window Cleaners
This work also means that I manager a team of window cleaners that cover areas of the South East. These teams need up to date paperwork of our current customers, along with the relevant information as to how they pay so they know whether to take cash on the day, leave a payment slip with the relevant information on and / or an envelope to allow them to pay by cheque. Ensuring they have all they need to complete their work.
Collecting Cash payments
4 times a month, I go to the regular customers that pay by cash to collect their payment for that months clean. Sometimes this results in Customer Service enquiries and issues which I have to deal with and require delicate handling if a customer is not particularly happy with a part of the service. This also involves allows us to talk to customers to ensure they are still happy with the service whether they have made a comment or not. A face to face approach to ensure the customer is still happy I have found is the best way to deal with a customer.
At Ash Employment Services I was temporarily based in a role which involved inputting data from the data given on worksheets, envelope filling and processing paperwork. This involved working on software I hadn't previously used before.
At NFER I was involved with inputting data from childrens test papers based on the markers markings depended on the data I was to input. This was involving papers from across the board of different disciplines and different ages. This also involved working on software I hadn't previously used before.
As a Supervisor my responsibilities increased and I was also responsible as a keyholder, opening and closing the store sometimes with little notice; merchandising and ordering stock; processing sales at the end of shifts using company software.
As a Sales Assistant I was serving and answering customer enquiries; stocking shelves and applying stock rotation; cash handling and taking card payments; cleaning shelves and floors; taking fridge temperatures.
This work involved counting stock and sending it out to various warehouses or stores.
The stock would be set aside for when I started work, I would count the stock, work out exactly what was to be sent where using a hand held device to determine exactly what the store wanted me to do with it. Then I would package it all up, attaching the various labels and paperwork relevant for it to then be collected at a later date. This information I then had to upload to the various systems and email addresses which needed it.
This involved working with the relevant managers and staff to ensure the work was completed, using focus and concentration.
I have been stocktaking with OCS for over a year now. This has involved me going in to various stores of various brands all over the South East. This work has been day or night work. I have done 3 - 12 hour shifts, and the work has to be completed until the work is done. Using software I have not used before I have to count the various stock involved, sometimes whole stores of just relevant sections. These counts are important to knowing exactly what the store currently stocks. So precise numbers are imperative, as is concentration and focus.
While working with this company I have been able on many occasions to get out of my Comfort Zone. This has given me the ability to push myself to levels I never thought possible. I have talked to strangers, approached businesses as a business person myself, been on recruitment drives and exhibitions, with the confidence in my work to carry out my task without worrying what they think of me. This was just not in my experience until this opportunity came along.
While one of my colleagues was going through a difficult personal issue, I was in a position to give her the time and space she needed before she was in a position to get back to work. There was no need have meetings to discuss why she was not at work, to fill in forms to explain her absense. People need to be given time to sort out their personal issues not to be reprimanded for their absense.
The Department Store
I designed this logo for 'The Department Store' which is a facebook group which is helping small businesses build a profile. This logo represents many businesses under one roof. Just like a Deparment Store in a high street. The logo was created to allow for the variable stores and products, along with a fresh and unique approach to the businesses under the banner of the Department Store.
Maple Logo and Flyer
This card is used to promote the work of Anne Maple, a gardener in the South East London area. I designed the logo as well as the card.
