I transferred to the Dog Unit in 1990 and completed my first Patrol Dog and Handlers Course, I patrolled all areas. In the same year I completed the Explosive detection dog and handlers course.

(PATROL DOG HANDLER)
Specialized duties that included assisting the SAPS with Bank Robberies, Armed hi-jacking and apprehension of suspects in buildings and fields and the assistance of officers in need of help.

(EXPLOSIVE DETECTION DOG HANDLER)
Assisting the SAPS, Suspicious parcels and vehicles, bomb threats, evacuation of buildings, cordoning off of areas insuring the safety of motorists and pedestrians whilst keeping a free flow of traffic, bomb explosions, educating the general public on how to evacuate buildings, this including school children, also informing the public on how to respond to telephonic bomb threats. V I P safety precautions and security sweeps.
