I worked at Brooks Bros. (Formally Fitchett and Woollacott) from 1992 until 1999 as a general machinist initially. I then had training for the tool room where I gained experience in the block setting and profile manufacture for the moulders. I was also on the sales team for a short while and earmarked for the position of operations manager.
John Cawley Ltd.
I started at John Cawley's in 1999 initially as a Machinist/driver on a part time basis while i went to college to gain my teaching qualifications. After graduation, I was employed on a full time basis while teaching in the evenings. I left to start my own business in 2003 which I sold two years later and was fortunate to be re-employed there. I was made redundant in February 2009 then asked back in May 2010. I was subsequently made redundant again at Christmas and re-employed in February 2011 until a further redundancy in July 2011. My duties evolved over the time i was there and included machining, joinery (site and bench), site management, setting out, office admin., and driving.
