Throughout his career as a psychiatrist, Neal Mazer, MD, MPH, has established himself as a dedicated, highly compassionate mental health professional. Operating a private practice in Santa Barbara, California, he treats children and adolescents with a variety of disorders, including a spectrum of autism and mood disorders in addition to obsessive-compulsive disorder. To treat these and other afflictions, Dr. Neal Mazer relies on “wraparound” programming, an integrated form of therapy that draws upon support from family, peers, teachers, community mentors, and counselors.
Before establishing a private practice nearly a decade ago, Neal Mazer, MD, spent a few years as the president and founder of Santa Barbara-based Regroove Inc. In this role, he joined forces with leaders in fields such as business management, education, and software development to create a computerized assessment of social and emotional skills in children and adolescents. The assessment, which identifies important areas such as cultural orientation, core barriers, and learning styles, helps parents and teachers access the information necessary to structure effective interventions and global classroom management strategies.
Earlier in his career, Neal Mazer, MD, spent nearly five years as a system of care program development specialist with the Multiagency Integrated System of Care (MISC) in Santa Barbara. In this capacity, he oversaw a number of key community-based MISC services, including early intervention programs, individualized wraparound services, Universal Family Service Plans, and vocational rehabilitation services. Dr. Neal Mazer also established a formal training curriculum for new staff members from all public child-serving agencies involved with the MISC.
