Natan Rifkin - moving image
Matthew Stevens - music and violin
Benjamin Fingerhut - Piano

This Was shown at The Barbican on 14th December 2012 in conjunction with an event during an evening with the composer Philip Glass,

The music is originally composed by Matt with the aid of Ben looking at Indian droning sounds, inducing a sense of wonder, magic and an eerie sense of the night.

The imagery is layered and double exposed using a combination of time lapse and filmed footage on a Nikon D90. Natan has a passion for the subjectivity of time and the world around him, looking at the micro and macro details of the world to create what he sees.

Fascinated by Masks

I tend to deconstruct peoples faces in my mind into the shapes they are made up of, along with the connection between their inner and outer selves. I remember I naturally started drawing masks as faces as I was thinking how the jaw line connects to the face and head.

Faces in the ground WIP

A2 charcoal and carbon illustration as a personal project.
This piece is a lot of fun, the initial composition was created fast to keep open minded about how I wanted the faces to look. Now the piece is gradually evolving through tonal work to push this to be clear but intriguing.
