- Part time
I am currently studying toward a Masters in Digital Media Production at Oxford Brookes. I have previously completed a BSc in Accounting & Business with a 2.1 Honors Degree. I am looking for a part-time job, preferably in the retail industry that will challenge me and allow me to develop my skills.
Throughout the internship
Fujitsu Technology Solutions Gmbh
From June 2008
I was assigned to work for the strategic IT-consulting team, and was supervised by the Principal IT Consultant. Throughout the internship, I was given the task to augment a methodology known as the "Cloudability Assessment" of business functions. This task included translating the "Cloudability Assessment" into a useful Microsoft Excel tool and creating an Excel evaluation matrix of a municipality's products. I was also asked to translate and produce PowerPoint slides for the "Cloudability Assessment". This internship enabled me to develop IT skills, particularly using MS Excel and PowerPoint, and advanced my teamwork and communication skills through networking with other members of the firm across Europe in order to resolve any problems my team and I were having. Furthermore, the experience built on my organisational skills, as I had to create my own task-based schedule and manage a work diary.
Credit Suisse International, London, UK
During my 10-day work experience I gained insight into the Over-the-counter (OTC) trading process. I was given the opportunity to observe and learn from various teams at work within operations. As I joined the different teams across the process of a trade I was able to track and observe a trade throughout its' transaction; from when it came in until its' settlement. This presented me with a valuable view on most aspects of the life-cycle of OTC trades. In addition, I was taught the structure of OTC loan settlements, client relationship management, and operations control and risk. For the final part of my internship I sat with the commodity operations and other OTC settlements team. This was a work experience where I was able to develop a fundamental understanding of operations and learnt to interact appropriately within the environment of a major investment bank.
Café Frühtau, Berg Germany
As a part-time summer job I worked at the Frühtau Café as a waiter. My job was to prepare and serve drinks and foods, as well...
"Peter Gieler" Catering
Over a number of years I worked with Peter Gieler during holidays and weekends. Peter Gieler has been in the catering business for over 25 years. One of the major clients I worked for was Playmobil. Time management was one of the most important aspects of my job as the timetable was very tight. My work included cooking breakfast, lunch, dinners and barbecues as well as being responsible for any other customer requests. I mostly worked in a team of two where as we usually catered for about 40 people. Pressure was always high and I had to work efficiently with Mr. Gieler to serve qualitative food without delay.
"Robert Eibl" Violinmaker, Munich, Germany
I worked with Robert Eibl, a violinmaker based in Munich as an assistant. This job broadened my use of creativity and patience. Creativity was demanded when we did workshops for children in building instruments using a limited selection of materials. We were able to successfully teach the children how to design and build guitars and violins out of wood and simple strings. Patience was mandatory, since repairing and refurbishing instruments was time consuming and needed a steady hand.
