I have supported charitable organisations such as Marie Curie by regularly collecting donations whilst studying for my A-levels. This has developed my communication skills and has complemented my helpful approach.

My duties were to write customers food orders on order slips, clean up tables, and take payments. I also served food and beverages to customers; and prepared and served specialty dishes at tables as required. I would then check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems. I leant to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Other skills I obtained were time management, service orientation and active learning.

Duties: I had a work placement at Ravenswood Primary School as a teaching assistant. Whilst I was there, my job involved helping the teacher with her every day work and working with small groups of children as well as individuals. My duties included, helping getting the classroom ready for lessons and helping children with their work. During my time at Ravenswood I learnt how to behave in different ways towards children in different situations. I also found that I could build good relationships with children, through listening to them and giving them opinions on questions they asked me. I was able to build good relationship with parents and carers, as well as the other teaching staff. I learnt to be patient but firm when necessary. I was also able to deal with groups of children and deal with challenging behaviour.

Everfresh- Fruit Shop

January 2007 - November 2010

I was employed at Everfresh to serve customers, operate the tills and in charge of stock replenishment. I also had to be quick with calculations on the price of their orders and answer any other queries. I also had to take in any complaints, and reassure them that their complaint had been taken into account and would be dealt with. The main skills I learnt from working at Everfresh were communication skills, time management and customer satisfaction.
