I joined Honeywell ME as Control Systems (DCS) and Smart Field Instruments Engineer on a short experience. I was assigned to Shell GTL Plant in Qatar which hosts the largest integrated control system for Honeywell to date, the role is within Maintenance.


Work missions overseas
• February 2012: I performed and witnessed the FAT of GE Control System SpeedTronic Mark VIe integration test to Honeywell EPKS DCS via OPC at GE Nuvo Pignone (Firenze, Italy), within the Framework of In Amenas compression project (EPC of two trains of GE Gas turbines and Compressors).
• October 2011: I participated in LOPA study maating at JGC offices (Manila Phillipines) (Engineering phase) with JGC within the Framework of In Amenas compression project (EPC of two trains of GE Gas turbines and Compressors).
• November 2010: I participated in LOPA meetings in Fluor offices (London, UK) with GE Nuovo Pignone (FEED phase), within the Framework of In Amenas compression project (EPC of two trains of GE Gas turbines and Compressors).
• March 2009- October2009: I participated on the upgrade of the Operator Training Simulator FAT in Honeywell Bracknell UK, and I ensured the SAT and Start up of OTS onsite. Our OTS is included of one Shadow server (Unisim), one DCS Server
• April-2008-December-2008: I participated on the upgrade of our DCS system (Honeywell Experion PKS from release R210 to release R301) and controllers (Honeywell C200 to C300), two weeks of FAT in Brussels and one month of SAT then start up and monitoring of system with new release.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provide technical support and ensure the integrity of the following Control / Safety Systems:
✓ Honeywell DCS EPKS R301 and C300 controllers.
✓ Honeywell Fail Safe Controller (FSC) for ESD and F&G.
✓ Process Control Network (Cisco switches, Routers and firewalls).
✓ SCADA/Telemetry system (SERCK): MTU servers, RTU controllers and communication network SCX6 database, outstation RTU or E-net RTUs.
✓ PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens Step 7, HIMA, GE Mark VI).
✓ CCC Anti-surge control: Anti-surge, Performance and Load-sharing controllers, Series 3+.
✓ Honeywell Field Device Manager (FDM) for Hart devices visualization and configuration.
✓ Honeywell Process History Data (PHD) servers (Collector and shadow).
✓ Honeywell E-server: Data bridge server.
✓ Smart Field instrumentation (HART, Fieldbus)
✓ Operator Training Simulator: includes UniSim Operate (USO) system R320 intefaced with Honeywell DCS EPKS R310.
• Participate in the review of Engineering standards & specifications and develop site technical practices related to the ICSS.
• Supervise Turbo-machine control team on all CM, PM, CI, MI and startup of Gas turbo machines (3 GE Gas turbines MS5001D for power generation, and 3 GE Gas Turbines MS5002D for gas Compression).
• Utilize Maximo for checking all Work Orders, material inventory and Corrective and Preventive Maintenance.
• Implementation of MOCs and documentation updates of all changes (Alarm settings, logic modifications) related to the ICSS systems.
• Managing the site ICSS (Instrumentation, control and safety system) service contract.
• Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), commissioning and take-over of new control systems projects.
• Provide technical support on the ICSS (Instrumentation, control and safety system) during the FAT & SAT, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and starting up.

Control and Safety systems

• Provide First line monitoring, troubleshooting, testing and maintenance of the Control and Safety systems, SCADA and PLCs.
• Updates, Configuration and modifications to the systems programs and logics.
• Coordinate with instrument technicians the testing, repairing and troubleshooting of all field devices (Transmitters, Control Valves, Blow Down Valves and Shut Down Valves).
• Perform with Turbo-machine control team on all CM, PM, CI and MI of Gas turbo machines (3 GE Gas turbines MS5001D for power generation, and 3 GE Gas Turbines MS5002D for gas Compression).
• Utilize Maximo for checking all Work Orders, inventory and Corrective and Preventive Maintenance.
• Making backups and antivirus updates of all Control systems devices (Servers, stations HMI and Controllrs).
• Manage and update the spare parts spread sheet of DCS, ISS equipment and advise planners for reorder and maintaining the stock.
• Report to technical support and vendors all outstanding issues and errors for further investigation.
• Provide daily support to operations users of Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS).
• Provide onsite technical trainings of DCS, FSC, SCADA systems and PLCs for technicians and new engineers.

In Amenas gas plant commissioning and start up:
• Provided a direct support to Honeywell DCS team (EPKS RS210 C200 controllers and FSC system) of system installation and configuration, Site application development, configuration and testing.
• Assisted the commissioning team of loop check and testing from field devices to the control Room using the documentation (cause & effects, P&IDs & control narrative ).
• Attended with vendors of the startup of different equipment and packages (turbo expander, Molecular sleeves Sequence compressor, VRU compressor, GE Turbines).
• Configuration and calibration of electronic and pneumatic instruments (valves, pressure, temperature, flow and level transmitters such as radar, displacer, capillary).
