My research experience as a learning and development specialist is advance and has developed in search for educational learning perspectives and understanding of how adults participate in learning. In my current role as learning and development specialist my focus on strengthening capacity and capability programmes within the adult learning sector enables me to inculcate adult learners with critical thinking and problem solving skills to build capabilities that will make them employable in society and become a part of a global community of learners. As a subject matter specialist I am able to design and develop learning programmes using online (e-learning), ICT tools or classroom pedagogies and learning. My experience in learning and development has been in designing leadership/management formal and informal programmes as well as managing the implementation of such processes, within budgetary constraints. My skills in analysis, design and development of learning programmes are advanced in learning design. I use blended approaches in an integrated way to meet each learner’s unique learning style, and use design principles (inquiry based learning methods) as a way to incorporate an integrate curriculums with quality teaching methods. I have contributed to successful projects completion and evaluate learning interventions through continuous feedback with learning stakeholders across business processes.

In the various (L&D) roles I worked, it has been and remains my aim to ensure that the learning element of the job gives employees the knowledge, practical skills and motivation to carry out particular work-related tasks. This I affect through managing the development, delivery and quality assurance of learning and development projects within an organisation, while ensuring compliance with the policies and procedures of the organisation’s skills development objectives. I worked in the public (Further Education and Training and with SETA’s) and private sectors (Banking and Financial Services / Retail and Wholesale / Infrastructure and Asset Management).

In my current role as Learning specialist I am responsible for the L&D employees working within Near Middle East and Sub-Saharan African regions managing the learning management system and as instructional designer and content developer I align learning outcomes for a global learner audience.

In corporate sector jobs employees are required to meet organizational performance standards, and training finds ways for them to understand why finding a personal developmental pathway is not a straight forward one, but a path which emphasizes personal responsibility and alignment to their organisation’s objectives. My research and work experience within both the private and public education sectors and corporate environment has allowed me to implement integration and developing learning solutions from analysis, scoping and assessing training. My research experience as a learning and development specialist is extensive and I have developed numerous SAQA aligned courses, both in soft skills and assisted with technical skills programmes.
