Musa Goodman Malinga is the last born son of Duduzile and Jeremiah Malinga, he was born in Mpumalanga, resided and schooled there for most of his life.
Musa started playing musical instruments at the tender age of fourteen. He played the drums and the keyboard at churches and at weddings.
He made a life altering decision to move to Johannesburg in the year 2000 where he developed an interest in playing the bass guitar, which he pursued and learned entirely on his own. In the midst of his learning he joined a church called Faithways Bible Church under the leadership of Pastor David Thebehali, which allowed him to be their bass guitar player.
In 2004 Musa started playing bass professionally for Bula Music Company, working with the likes of Sfiso Ncwane, Zodwa, Kholeka and Lundi Tjamara. This was the opportunity he had been waiting for as it exposed him to other artists who were very keen to have him play for them as well, the likes of Rebecca Malope, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Sipho Makhabane, Spirit of Praise which consists of artists like Keke, Avis, Tshepiso, Solly Mahlangu and Vicky Vilakazi to name but a few. He not only worked very closely with some of South Africa’s prominent gospel musicians but also played for Kwela Tebza and Relo who are among the leading acts in their respective genres.
