Summary:

Thorough knowledge of Railway Engineering through working in Saudi Archirodon Ltd in Dammam Office which is involved in Railway Construction activities for Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) and Saudi Railways Company (SAR).

Before placing order for turnouts for doubling project, I reviewed the technical specifications and noticed many discrepancies regarding strength of rails, hardening of frog, etc and notified the supplier to amend these discrepancies before placing order.

Studying the technical specifications and preparing Request for Quotations (RFQ) of various track materials.

Held meetings with suppliers of track materials along with Project Manager to finalize the technical details and drawings prior to placing the purchase order of major track material.

Developed excel sheets to calculate ballast quantity for track and turnouts.

Developed excel sheets for calculation of intermediate distance between the two turnouts (crossover intermediate part).

PROJECT: CONNECTION OF RAILWAY TRACK TO SECOND TERMINAL IN DAMMAM PORT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for alternate route for track because of obstacles coming in the way of track. Supervising survey work for track alignment and longitudinal profile including new location of turnouts. Initial proposed design of the project has project length of approx 8.6 Km and 15 Nos. turnouts (3 Nos. 1/9-190, 12 Nos. 1/7.5-150). Coordinating with surveyor for setting up of route alignment with minimum obstacles and also to maintain the suitable radius.

Involved in preparing request for quotations for final price to be sent to suppliers of Rails, Turnout (1/7.5 & 1/9), Vossloh Fastenings (W14 HH), Aluminothermic Welds for the above project.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Responsible for the following for Dammam Section:

1) Prepare the format for blank sheets for daily inspection, periodic inspection and work done to be approved by the client (Saudi railway Organization).
2) Monitoring/performing of daily and periodic inspection along with work done as per project specifications. This includes rail, fastenings, sleepers, ballast, turnouts etc.
3) Responsible for installation/ replacement of damaged track materials i.e. rail, sleepers, fastening, turnout.
4) Follow the material order for Dammam Section based on the requirements from inspection reports.
5) Design of the longitudinal track profiles.
6) Making calculations for the horizontal and vertical curves.
7) Making calculations for the turnouts and crossovers.
8) Taking transverse profile of the rails by EZ-2 Rail Profile.
9) Preparing the monthly payment certificates.

Prepared the comparative list of various components of crossover actually received with the components mentioned in the respective drawings and notified the supplier for the missing items.

Visited the site and gave the instructions for marking cut-off points for the installation of crossovers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

I got involved in various railroad tenders for Saudi Railways Organization, Saudi Railways Company, Etihad Rail and Libyan Railways. Some of my responsibilities are as follows:

a) Calculating quantities of track materials i.e. rails, turnouts, sleeper anchor, guard rails.

b) Preparing the breakdown of client BOQ in sub activities for estimation purpose.

c) Involved with cross examination of quantities mentioned in BOQ and Tender Drawings and highlighted various discrepancies between these quantities. This includes rails, ballast, fastenings, ballast, turnouts etc.

d) Preparing the Request for Quotations for various railroad suppliers as per the specifications mentioned in the tender.

e) Reviewing the quotations and making sure that the supplied quotation is as per the tender specifications.

f) For railway tenders involving earthwork activities I was responsible for calculating quantities of cut and fill by plotting cross section in auto cad.

Nowadays I am involved with following railroad tenders

a) “Construction of additional siding at Station 23 Km 84” for Saudi Railways Organization (SRO). My responsibility is calculate earthwork quantity, track material quantity, layout of utilities needed to be relocated like signal post. Manhole, etc.

Privatization Commission was a government organization and its responsibility was to prepare the necessary documents to auction the various government entities through the process of open bidding by private investors.

I was involved for visiting various government industries with my senior consultants to collect the various information related to industries.

This consists of annual reports, manpower report, etc. Industries visited by me included Pakistan Engineering Company (PECO), Pak Saudi Fertilizer, Punjab Veg. Ghee, Hazara Phosphate Fertilizers Limited, Lyallpur Chemical & Fertilizer, etc.

After collecting the required information, I was involved with preparing the Information Memorandum giving the following descriptions.

• A detailed description of the business and its operations;
• A summary of the industry and opportunities within the market;
• Financial information including analysis of historical results and future projections; and
• A summary of the auction process including the proposed structure of the deal and timing for receipts of expressions of interest or letters of intent.
