Fitting - Using of different hand and workshop tools, marking off, drilling, cutting and threading, cutting and fitting of gaskets, fitting of different keys and locking devices, fitting of different types of bearing ( boll, cylindrical, taper sleeve, etc ), fitting of different couplings on pumps and motors, Aligning drive shafts and impellers, Assembling of pumps ( Lobe, Rotor and Stator, Centrifugal, etc ), Fitting of different valves ( Gate, Ball, Globe, etc ), maintenance of Refrigeration plants ( ammonia and R134a Refrigerants plants in Mining and food beverages industries ).

Impala Platinum Mine

As a Fridge plant Fitter, it is my responsibility to ensure the health and safety of myself, my helpers as well as any personnel or visitors visiting the plants. I maintain these plants by repairing any faulty equipment, fixing any leak of Refrigerants which are Ammonia and R134a, ensure that the plants are efficiently (meaning they provide cool air underground), it's on my shoulders to ensure the plants run 24 hours and they are clean all the time.

I am a fridge plant fitter, ensuring the personnel working underground receive proper cool air.

I started my apprenticeship there until I qualified as a fitter and turner, my role was to do maintenance and shut-downs in the mining e.g Anglo and food beverage industries e.g SAB, striping and assembling of different compressors, different oil pumps.

EMPLOYER THREE: Volta Service Station

From 1997- 1999 as I was a petrol attendant, my duty was to make sure all the customers coming to fill petrol receive good service and leave the filling station with smile. From 1999 - 2005 as I was a petrol cashier it was my responsibility to ensure that all petrol attendants are on duty and are servicing customers according to the required procedure and to ensure all the used petrol pumps are paid. It was on my shoulder to make sure that the money received during the shift correspond with the total amount indicated by the computer before it is deposited into the safe.

I can strip it according to the required procedures, check all the worn parts ( e.g Bearings, spacers, shafts, rotors and casing ), assemble it step by step ensuring all the parts are correctly installed in the casing, making sure all the clearances are correctly checked and the float is within the required range.
