I, Mr Abdool Sahib do hereby apply for the position as complex Manager as advertised in the North Glen Newspaper. I believe my hands on experience and other formal qualifications do more than qualify for the position available.
I believe I can make a significant, beneficial and effective contribution to your organisation and the working environment at large, given my vast amounts of experience. I have worked in a fully, semi skilled and unskilled environment. This experience was obtained from all my previous places of employment. They were all fully unionised.
I was tasked at all my places of employment to teach various staff members certain duties that was within my capacity and capabilities. This I achieved with great results. I believe I can do the same in your company.
At the City Engineers Department, Construction and Maintenance Division, we had various artisans such as bricklayers, carpenters, electricians and plumbers that reported to me. Apart from my general administrative function my duties also entailed conducting site inspections. I took it upon myself to learn different techniques from these artisans as they were willing to tutor me in their fields. I learned how to undertake and successfully carry out minor carpentry and electrical repairs, undoing blocked storm water drains and sewage pipes and other general repairs.
I refused to sit down and be laid back as I took every opportunity to try and further my education be it informally or otherwise and gain the necessary experience from these professionals as I knew that this was going to help me in the future. As the old saying goes "Opportunity only strikes once."
