I am not just passionate about Safety, Health and Environmental concerns I love people and get great satisfaction knowing that I can make a positive contribution in the work place and elsewhere, because SHE is not only a work place concern.
When I left Toyota I worked and co-ran a tool room for about 16 years. It was this environment that gave me my best development as I had to assist with the initiation of projects, which included designing, development, purchasing, procuring, manufacturing, commisioning and maintence of all tools and tooling (this was for the petro chemical, cosmetic and domestic lines). Production had to be kept going so any time was work time for the demands were high.
We made, printed and filled product for some corporate customers.

I work well under all conditions, perform and communicate at all levels, understand work place dynamics, good leadership qualities and pride myself on being honest and trustworhty, right is right and I wont sell my soul to anyone or any company. I am a brother in the Old Apostolic Church.

I am a qualified tool jig and die maker, changed career path eight years ago to do Safety, Health and Environmental. I manage the SHE responsibilities at my current place of work.

1. Training centre for 12 months. Trained to use all hand tools, lathes, milling machines, measuring equipment and instruments, surface grinder, shaper, rotary table, dividing head. There were ten projects that had to be completed in this period including spending 3 months a technical college.
2. After year in training centre spent balance of apprenticeship in tool room working on plastic injection moulds, blow moulds and press tools.

My scope of work:
Implement an integrated SHE system according to all Legal requirements.
Ensure ISO 14001: Monitor permits and expiry dates, environmental monitoring (VOCs, illumination, noise etc.).
Manage all safety representatives including appointments and training,
Co-ordinate environmental management program, including close out of items.
Conduct SHE environmental tours. Review and manage Aspects and Impacts register.
Co-ordinate Emergency Evacuation Exercise.
Audit and Induct all contractors. Temporary Contractors.
Audit on site contractors. (Cleaners, Canteen, Security).
Record and manage all waste collections and recyclables.
Safety awareness, monitors all on site incidents, investigates and gives feedback.
Carry out hazard risk assessments and implement controls.

Toyota stamping is the body and parts metal division, this is where most pressing took place, as a tool maker I was responsible for ensuring that tools are in good repair and always fit for production, I would do production line cover (high pressure), trouble shooting, fault finding, recording and reporting to management all down time, make recommendations tool improvements, assist with development of new tool makers, assist with quality and ensuring that all targets are met efficiently, another work place where development is good.

Responsibilities: Tool repair, maintenance and up keep.
Worked with line production and production up keep, trouble shooting, problem solving and ensuring that quality spec were maintained and up kept.
Report daily to team leader and complete all paper work related tool maintenance and repair requests/requirements.
Assist with tool modifications and improvement suggestions.

Opportunity to establish and begin tool room at company. Accepted offer and resigned from Toyota.
Responsibilities were to ensure that correct equipment was purchased, identify gaps in system.
All tooling was made in house including blow moulds, press tools, extrusion moulds and injection moulds. Focus and main market was petrochemical, cosmetic and domestic.
Had to do development, material, parts, customer liaison and all tool commissioning.
Privileged to register tool room with SETA and trained apprentices.
Assisted with growing and developing company from approx. 4 small blow moulders and 6 Injection machines (1991) to 12 Blow moulding machines ( max. to blow 5 litre bottles) 16 injection machine max. 1200.

Kohler xactics made containers and closures (caps), plastic injection and blow moulds, work consisted mainly of tool repairs and tool servicing, did a lot of trouble shooting (fault finding), modifications and development work.

I started at Hart Ltd in March 1981 as an apprentice and qualified (trade test Oilifants Fontein) October 1984, worked for Hart until approx. 1987, worked with injection moulding tools, press tools, compression and blow moulds. This was a dynamic place as training and development was excellent.
