I am dealing with all their Safety, Health and Environmental issues which may arise from their duties on the Medupi Power Station Project.

I am not yet a permanent employee for SARENS SA thus my whish in life is to obtain a permanent position with a company to be able to provide a secure future for my wife and son.


Dry wall partitioning company

April 2008 - June 2009

I was employed with GM-Projects as a site manager and safety officer doing dry-wall partitioning.
I organized and submitted all sub-contractors invoices to head office.
I kept the safety file up to date and conducted monthly audits on sub-contractors safety systems for compliance according to the general construction regulations and the OSH Act 85 of 1996.
I did all the measuring on all the sites for invoicing purposes.
I completed five sites with-out any recordable injury cases.

My duties were as follow:
- Monthly meetings.
- Quality assessments on product.
- Compiling HSE file and implementation.
- Incident investigations.
- Time sheet assessments.
- Measuring of work.

Safety Officer in Johannesburg cbd consulting for a company called Afhco

I then after my studies with NOSA applied for a position with a company called Comprehensive Safety Concepts, and started as the senior Safety Officer in Johannesburg cbd consulting for a company called Afhco (affordable housing company).

My duties were as follow:

- I presented 1500 site safety inductions for C.S.C and also wrote risk assessments for them as well as written safe work procedures.
- I compiled and implemented SHE Files.
- Conducted weekly and monthly site audits on Afhco as well as Sub contractors.
- Investigated incidents to determine the root causes.
- Writing RISK Assessments.
- Writing written safe work procedures.
- Writing policies.
- Preparing for legal audits.
- Performing monthly inspections.

I did the safety rep work and then discovered the passion I have now for Safety and decided to study thru NOSA to achieve my goal in safety.
I completed a number of projects and received a Safety award for outstanding Safety Rigging done on a project at Tubatsi Chrome mine in Steelpoort.

My duties were as follows.
- To perform weekly inspections.
- Document all deviations and provide all relevant parties with deviation information.
- Inspect and audit on findings to make sure all deviations are addressed.
- To perform all rigging activities in a save and professional manner.
- Inspect all rigging and fire equipment.

Mud Man

April 1996 - February 2003

01-04-1996 to 28-02-2003 (Industrial cleaning and dewatering company within Sasol 1)
I worked for Mud Man for a period of 7 years and 11 months as a site foreman in industrial cleaning and dewatering, supervising plus minus 50 to 100 employees.

- We performed dewatering and cleaning work on cooling towers, which feeds the whole of Sasol one with cooling water for different sites.
My duties were as follow:
- Preparing all legal audit documentation.
- Delegating work between the different teams.
- Collecting and sorting of all time sheets.
- Writing of monthly reports.
- Writing of policies and procedures. Compiling and updating the SHE System.
- Performing monthly inspections.
- Sitting in on monthly meetings.


HSE Manager

I believe Safety is a team effort and will never grow if Management does not commit them self’s to Safety and the well being of others and their companies.
I have worked on many projects in the past and completed them with a RCR rate of “zero”. I have also recently completed my Facilitator, Assessor and RISKMAQ 1, 2 and 3 (Risk Management) courses, and am currently awaiting my SETA Registration number. I have also knowledge of ISO 14001.
I am currently working for a company inside Sasol1 as their Chief Safety Officer on a number of projects. I have fifteen years Petro Chemical experience and five years HSE experience.
I was audited during September 03-07/09/2012 and received an IRCA 4 Star IDRS (Diamond Rating).
