Giannetta - English Speaker - Bologna, Italy

Monica Giannetta

Bologna, Italy

My passion for languages arrived late, only after moving to London when I was 21 years old; but my passion for teaching has been there long since.
In 2012 I decided to follow those two passions and I tried a career change and so I quit my job and enroled to a semi-extensive CELTA course @ International House school in Milan, course that I succefully completed in April 2012.
I started teaching as professional teacher (I taught before then but only private tutoring and mainly to friends and colleagues) in May 2012.
It's been hard for a non native speaker to find work in the jungle of private teaching schools adevertising mother-toungue teachers. But it is getting better and better every day.
I like this job more and more as I do it and as I become more experienced and competent in the subject.
I can teach:
- General English up to Upper-Intermediate/Advanced level,
- Business English,
- English to children
- English to prepare for Cambridge Exams (Young Learners, ESOL and IELTS).

I am working as English teacher mainly to children at the moment and I believe that learning a language at an early age is the key to success. So I want to specialise in teaching to children and I've just completed a course in "Glottodidattica infantile" (Foreign language teaching to children) at "La Sapienza" University in Rome. Now I'm able to teach to pre-school children and todlers: it's time to put into practice what I've learnt!!!

  • Part time

I am proficient in the language. I learnt it in London where I lived for 5 years from 1999 to 2005. I achieved my Cambridge Proficiency Certificate in December 2004. In May 2012 I achieved my CELTA Certificate and I've taught English since then.

Magic Teacher

In October last year I've enrolled to a course in "Glottodidattica Infantile" (Language teaching to kids) at "La Sapienza" University in Roma to become "Magic Teacher". I completed the course in June and in September I'll start my new English courses to pre-school and elementary school kids, in Bologna.
I am preparing all the material to promote the course and I can't wait to see how it will go and if I'm going to start.
The courses for the moment will be in the afternoon, as after school courses, but I hope to also get in contact with a "Scuola Materna" or "Asilo nido" which will allow me to take courses also in the mornings.
Fingers crossed and let's see how it goes.
