Policing and Customs Clearing
I was a police officer at the rank of Warrant Officer for 11 years. Crime prevention, crowed management and investigation of crime, both serious and organised crime, were my major fields. I then joined SARS, South African Revenue Services as a Risk Analyst. My role as a Risk Analyst was to gather information, identify potential risks from clients, that is both Importers and Exporters. Establish ways and methods to prevent smuggling of goods between RSA borders and Namibian borders, prevent illicit movements of goods into our country. I was later promoted to work in Durban harbour as a team leader at the scanner site. We scanned all risky containers, those leaving and entering the country. Stopping counterfeit goods, drugs and illegal cigarrettes. I then moved to Lesotho borders, where I was a Port Commander. Prevention of illicit goods and maximising the team's productivity. Drugs to the street value of R 400 000 were seized and recovery of stolen and hi-jacked vehicles to the value of R 750 000 were recovered by my team. Intelligence gathering is my best weapon and a tool I utilised for my successes. Managing of a team is also what I do best, I found a team that was underperforming and their performance awarded them year end performance bonuses.
