My role included preparing briefing for ministers, researching and answering PQs (parliamentary questions) at very short notice, preparing case studies, report writing, organising events- conferences/summits, liaising with government officials, councils, universities, schools, private organisations and working to deadlines in a highly pressurised environment. In particular I liaised with stakeholders to provide information, advice and guidance on government policies regarding careers guidance (eg. Youth Sector Development Fund, Careers Professional Taskforce etc.). I also coached and mentored selected junior staff.
My role included a full range of administrative tasks supporting customer services including answering all queries over phone, managing communication between departments, updating database, dealing with incoming communication via post and electronic media, organising committee meetings, taking minutes and disseminating management information to various agencies. I have a full range of skills in MS Office, Intranet etc. I left this job due to promotion to higher grade.
My duties included working as part of a team in a fast moving but repetitive environment to assign shifts and work out weekly wages for Royal Mail employees at various regions of the country. I left this job for career development purposes.

My duties included checking records to ensure correct students were attending, managing the exam environment according to the requirements of the exam board. A high level of accuracy, making decisions, timekeeping and organisational skills were essential to the role.
Principal Investigator for a research project at the Department

This was part of my research project relating to physical and mental illnesses where I was responsible for gaining approval for conduct of the project from clinical ethics committee and insurance cover for the study. I was also responsible for dealing with patients and communicating with clinical staff on a regular basis. I interviewed patients and controls and collected blood samples from them and did biochemical analysis and data presented after statistical analysis.

I was responsible for setting up a plant tissue culture laboratory for USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) project on standardisation of tissue/apical meristem culture techniques for horticultural crops mainly nutmeg and cashew. I also managed a nursery from raising and maintaining potted plants mainly pepper upto the point of sale.

on a World Bank funded project. I was responsible for creating farm plans based on inventory of resources and implementing the plans liaising with farmers, banks and government agencies.
As Agricultural Officer, I was instrumental in starting SADU (Special Agricultural Development Unit) in two districts in Kerala State, South India. I managed a team to prepare unit plans, inventory of resources, farm plans, technical enquiry reports and sanctioned loans to farmers thereby bringing more than 250 hectares of land under dry and irrigated development.
