Dear Sir / Madam
Re: Physical Education Teacher / Sports Coach
I wish to apply for the post of Teacher of Physical Education at your esteemed School. I am currently teaching at Bedford Academy Bedford as Teacher of Physical Education. During my teaching carrier I have had the opportunity to teach at the variety of schools with differing abilities.
My Physical Education Teaching experience has ranged from Yr 7 to Yr 13. I have also had the good fortune to teach GCSE and A, level lessons, both Theory and practical. The time I spent teaching PE has revolved largely around Boys games and co-educational indoor sports. I have drawn upon my own experience within many sports as the basis for the programme development, although I have taken Hockey, Basketball, Badminton and Rugby coaching awards.
Hockey is one of my main areas of interest as its structure enables a wide range of activities to feed from it. Its merits as a co-educational game, enables the sport to be played through all key stages as well as developing team work, communication and co-operation.
I encourage sport for all and understanding approach within all my lessons as I believe that an understanding of a skill is far better than the ability to perform the skill and not understand it. The development of pupils understanding and hand should not only be limited to the topic but also other Physical factors, especially the relationship to the individuals health, Health Related Fitness (HRF) must be in corporate within my Physical Education curriculum either as an individual mode or integrated, but students awareness of their own body is essential.
One particular area that attracted myself to this post was the extensive extra-curricular activities that the department is striving to offer. The success at high level shows a desire to enable students to participate in a wide range of sports both in and out of lesson time. I have taken a keen interest and been involved in many extra curricular

One particular area that attracted myself to this post was the extensive extra-curricular activities that the department is striving to offer. The success at high level shows a desire to enable students to participate in a wide range of sports both in and out of lesson time. I have taken a keen interest and been involved in many extra curricular activities throughout all my teaching placements.
I coached, ran and officiated for Football, Hockey, and Basketball teams through out the school. I also help set-up and run a circuit training session for all students taking GCSE physical education with the view to increase their cardiovascular and flexibility abilities.
I believe that by establishing a curriculum that encompasses components of co-operation, communication, teamwork, respect understanding and self belief, the development of a student as individual as member of today’s society can be achieved. I believe that through the provision of a well-structured and dynamic curriculum, all students needs can be addressed, hence developing a positive identity for both the individual and the school. With today’s social and cultural diversity, it is important that all children grow-up in a knowledgeable environment, free of prejudice and full of understanding.
For students to effectively learn their working environment must be suitably managed regardless of subject or activity. An individual students needs must always be considered irrespective of gender, class, ethnicity, religion, or physical ability. It is my belief that all students have the right to a first class education, and as such differences of any kind are irrespective.

ICT is an area commonly overlooked within Physical Education, even though it creates an opportunity for staff to utilise new and clearer information during their lessons. I have developed various tasks cards, coaching prompt sheets and module booklets for students during my teaching experiences. I have used video cameras before in both topics to enable students to assess their own performance, and thus refine any movement patterns or technical problems they possess. The recording of student also allows a more detailed individual assessment to be carried out, if a group routine or phrases has been used.
I see my self as a very good team member who is not afraid of responsibility. In fact I thrive upon it. I have had the opportunities within education and my social life to develop my organisational and management skills.
The character I developed during my time as a player and captain of the university team enabled me to relate the form tutor role. I was able to take this knowledge by shadowing a tutor in my first experience, and finally taking the role within my teaching experience, all is it in on a split basis. I see the form tutor as an essential part of the make-up of any educational establishment. It is their job to ensure that all students are happy in their environment a progressing as both an individual and a member of a wider society.
From the past eight years I have been involved in coaching various hockey teams, currently I am employed to coach the 1st eleven and 2nd eleven hockey team at Dame Alice Harpur school on part time basis.
I consider myself to be a keen, enthusiastic and committed individual who is striving to promote Physical Education into the twenty-first century.
Finally I would like to thank you the time in considering this application, and would welcome an opportunity to further discuss this statement with you.
Yours truly,
Azhar Khan

Yours faithfully
