I have worked on two research projects under the supervision of Prof. Enzo Palombo in Faculty of Life and Social Science.

1) E.coli contamination of cheese:
The aim of this project is identification of E.coli in cheese samples and environmental samples from a cheese factory.

• Isolation of microorganisms
• Identification of microorganisms using Indole Test, MRVP Test and Voges-Proskauer Test
• DNA extraction, PCR and Gel Electrophoresis
• Gel clean-up of loaded PCR samples for DNA sequencing

2) Anti-biofilm properties of an Eremophila longifolia stem ethanol extract:
The aim of this project was assessing the anti-bacterial activity of stem ethanol extract of Eremophila longifolia against normal saliva microbes.

• Preparation of plant extract
• Confirmation of antibacterial activity of stem ethanol extract against salivary bacteria
• Determining the minimum time of exposure required to disrupt biofilms of salivary bacteria
• Analysing the inhibition of attachment of bacteria to abiotic surface
• Performing the statistical methods
