Working on a short-term contract I was responsible for answering phones and responding to customer inquiries with regards to insurance claims, dealing with customer in a professional and courteous manner and researching information using available resources. Liaison with outside agencies such as medical facilities and local law enforcement to enable follow up customer calls. This position required proficiency in relevant computer applications, knowledge of customer service principles and practices and excellent verbal, written and listening skills

I was responsible for the job rotation of 900 staff and ensuring that customer demands were met on time. I had to calculate the number of staff that would be required for each shift over a 24-hour period. In order to do this I needed to know how many members of staff were on sick or on annual leave, I then used excel spread sheets and Microsoft Access to calculate how many men were required for each job in the warehouse per shift, once I had completed this task I then took into account any staff welfare issues before allocating tasks.
Tesco Distribution Centre
I was tasked with the setting up a satellite depot and for the managing of 8 members of staff due to the overspill of stock during peak periods. I set up procedures for time sheets, wages, taco graphs and rotas of staff and for agency drivers. As the main depot for distribution of stock to 180 stores within the South West region, I was responsible for ensuring that managers of the stores received the correct stock on time in order to maximise profits for the company. As a result of the procedures that I put in place the depot was kept opened for 5 years and the depot became one of the most successful distribution centres within the company.
During this period of time I was working as a short-term contract, I was responsible for the preparation and cooking of vegetables, making sauces as well as the cleaning and washing up in the kitchen area. Working in a very demanding and often pressurised environment, working as part of a team and therefore communication was extremely important. Serving customers at the counter ensuring that they were dealt with in a professional and courteous manner ensuring that they were aware of what products were available.
The Royal Mail Public House
During this period I was the manager of a public house, duties requiring managerial skills to be able to recruit, train and motivate staff in order that they can work efficiently and well, while maintaining a friendly welcoming atmosphere in the establishment. I was also responsible for cash handling, costing and the keeping of sales and purchase ledgers and the banking of all cash taken.
The job also required me to get on well with people of all kinds therefore communication was extremely important including listening skills to be able to converse with customers and dealing with trouble that arose in a professional and courteous manner.
