Sclerosis. His right side was totally paralyzed.
Responsibilities: I was his right-hand. I showered him until he could no longer
balance himself and then bed-bathed him daily after that
happened. I took him to the toilet, wiped and washed him.
Picked him up, dressed him, got out his clothes. He would fall out of bed or off his chair on purpose and I used to pick him up until he got a hoist - he weighed 80kg's. 'm physically very
strong. I drove him everywhere: to rehab., doctors, we used to eat out in restaurants often, go shopping. I organized his
meds, bought them, checked against Discovery. I stopped him
self-medicating as this was dangerous. His memory was
deteriorating and he used to rely on me as his "memory" and witness in all his business meetings. I wrote his cheques out for
him, and he asked my advice re. some investments he made.
He used my banker to invest. I was his companion, we used to chat, watch TV and I used to help him record his shows. He
would call me all hours of the night to help him with his TV.
Although I was off duty, I never refused and often cleaned him when he "messed" his nappy at night. He refused to get a night
nurse - I had to put on his nappies permanently as his MS
worsened. He still signed with his left hand and refused to stop
his money lending.
Perks: Every Sunday and Monday off. Time off if I needed special
time. 15 working days leave per year. He bought me a car
which I was paying off monthly.
Reason for leaving: Retrenched. He used a black, live-out lady to save money.

to 70 year-old man with Lymphoma + Melanomas.
Responsibilities: Drove him everywhere, dispensed his medicines, accompanied
him everywhere to doctors, did his clothes washing, cooked for him, fed him, bathed him and read to him. I was with him in the
hospital when he died because his children couldn't be there. I
closed up his flat and paid off the domestic worker.
Perks: Use of car, his petrol. Had week-ends off although I never took
time off as he was very ill.
Reason for leaving: Patient passed away.

Responsibilities: Full live-in position. Duties include cooking 3x per day, doing the clothes-washing, supervising of medications, taking patient to dr.'s appointments, generally doing everything with her ie.
walking with her in the complex with her walker, watering the garden, watching TV with her, helping her to bath, being her
companion. Assisting patient when she wakes at 02h00 in the morning and getting her settled back in bed. Patient is in the
beginning stages of Alzheimer's.
Perks: The use of a car on off-days and week-ends.
Reason for leaving: Resigned. I only got half a day off every 2 weeks as well as only every 2nd week-end off. Car was sold so I no longer had the use of a car.

R1,4m. The last target I had was R6m per annum. I was
extensively involved with Government as well as semi- government customers and also had to apply for Government
tenders etc. and dealt with clients in the greater Molopo region.
I wrote reports and schedules for the company and presented
these at strategy meetings. I was relied on to procure definitive
guidelines for Firechem selling. I was delegated to deal with every level of customer because of my communication skills with all levels of society. As a result of my working largely with the above, I came to know and meet many people in the North-
West Regional Government and commercial world of business.
I have known this region extensively since 1986 and my
contacts were very wide. My seniors called on me frequently to introduce them to various members of Government.
