Arthritis SA is a not for profit health organisation committed to improving the quality of life of people with Arthritis and related conditions through research, advocacy, education and support for consumers and relevant health professionals.

The operational and financial responsibility for four key departments and associated staff - Health
Services, Business Development, Communications and Corporate Relationships.

Ensuring all departments functioned in a cohesive and collaborative working environment to ensure
operational and business integrity through analytical planning and strategic implementation ensuring
optimal business and budgetary outcomes.


Quality Support Services

Quality Support Services is a consultancy business primarily providing implementation, accreditation and ongoing maintenance support options for the Quality Assurance needs of the community pharmacy

Additional services offered include targeted project management services, training and management
resources linked to Workplace Health & Safety and Human Resource Management.

As the business owner and principle Director my responsibilities were to ensure that the company's
commercial viability was maintained through considered business planning, risk management and implementation strategies.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia is the peak body representing community pharmacy. It seeks to serve the interests of its members and to support community pharmacy in its role delivering quality health
outcomes for all Australians.

Five year Community Pharmacy Agreements between the Australian Government and the Pharmacy
Guild of Australia recognise the key role played by community pharmacy in primary health care through the delivery of Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines and related services.

The Agreements provide remuneration for around 5000 community pharmacies for dispensing of PBS
medicines, the provision of pharmacy programs and services, and the Community Services Obligation
arrangements with pharmaceutical wholesalers.

As Chief Operating Officer I answered directly to the States Branch Director and was responsible for the operational edicts as directed by the States Branch President, Committee and National Secretariat.

Operational responsibilities included the implementation, management and ongoing maintenance of multiple programs and portfolios (State and National) including the Quality Care Pharmacy Program, the
Home and Residential Medication Management Review programs, The National Training Program for
Pharmacy Assistants and the annual South Australian Pharmacy Industry Trade Expos.

State Manager, the Home and Residential Medication Management Review programs. I was the first manager nationally to complete all contract KPIs.

sState based pharmacy conference trade events

Development, coordination and management of 3 annual state based pharmacy conference trade events. The SA Pharmacy Community Forums culminated in 2010 with over 300 registered delegates, 40 commercial exhibitors and sponsors and 30 speakers providing a budgetary surplus of $90,000 to the organizing committee.

Health Professional Clinical Update Symposiums

Initiated and convened 8 musculoskeletal health professional clinical symposiums attracting over 1,000 health professionals, over 40 clinical specialist speakers and over 40 corporate sponsors exceeding budgeted surplus by 30%.

Quaity Care Pharmacy Program

State Manager, the Quality Care Pharmacy Program. I was responsible for the industry introduction and implementation of both the 1st and 2nd editions of the program and maintained the highest per capita accreditation ratio nationally throughout my tenure.
Pre & post QA implementation/maintenance support programs to pharmacies across 3 States
Induction and orientation training across 3 States for Pharmacy Guild of Australia QA State Branch Managers and associated staff.

The Arthritis Aware Pharmacy Program

Arthritis SA has entered into a collaborative working partnership with selected community pharmacies who have undergone extensive training and have been provided with resources and support material becoming the first Arthritis Aware Pharmacies in Australia.

Through ongoing education, support and resources these Arthritis Aware Pharmacies have committed themselves to becoming the premier locations for those people suffering from the conditions associated with Arthritis and Osteoporosis.
