My first real job in music was running the Clash’s recording studio in Camden Town London, a post I held for six years. Whilst there I recorded all of the Clash's demo's and did their live sound. I even collaborated on a song with Joe Strummer on the last ever Clash album, (Cut The Crap) it was definitely one of the best experiences I've ever had.
I started the band "Roachford" with Andrew Roachford in 1986. After I finished working with The Clash I was looking for something new and exciting in music. Roachford combined rock with soul to create a very unique sound that gave us hits in Europe and the US, in the 80s and 90s and we sold over two million records. While at Columbia I also produced the music for the fight scene in Twins Staring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny DeVito. music performed by Jeff Beck & Andrew Roachford
John Reid Management
I was asked by John Read to join his management company as an in-house producer and engineer as well supervising the in-house productions I also went on tour as live sound engineer for Elton John, Ray Cooper, Cassandra Wilson & recorded and mixed Courtney Pines critically acclaimed album “Underground”.
I first met George Martin when I was producing Roachford at Air studios in West London. When I had finished the Roachford Album he asked me to come back to work at Air Studios as part of a software development team for the AMS Neve Logic 2 digital mixing console. My main duties were testing and evaluating automation equalizers and compressors for performance reliability and ease of use. We would also collaborate on The Glory of Gershwin, Larry Adler's tribute to George & Ira Gershwin. I recorded and mixed Larry Adler & Courtney Pine's version of Summertime.
