A member of the Canadian Psychological Association, Dr. Michael Elterman owns and maintains a practice focused on producing psychological assessments regarding family law as well as other services for use in court. He possesses considerable expertise in the assessment areas of memory development, child development, child abuse, and child custody and access. Previously, Dr. Michael Elterman spent seven years as a Clinical Associate Professor for the Department of Psychology at Simon Fraser University, one of Canada’s premier educational institutions.

Dr. Michael Elterman has a wide array of experience in his field. He served as Head of the Department of Psychology at University Hospital Shaughnessy and provided his services as a consulting psychologist for the Family Justice Center and British Columbia’s Ministry of the Attorney General. Dr. Elterman also practiced forensic psychiatry for what is now known as the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. Furthermore, from 1989 to 1996 he performed psychological assessments on federal inmates for the Parole Board of Canada.

Dr. Michael Elterman began laying the foundations for his career at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, where he earned a Bachelor of Social Science degree with Honors. He went on to attend the University of Ottawa, graduating with a Master of Arts in Psychology. Dr. Elterman subsequently completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Queen’s University before going on to a postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral medicine at the University of Utah Medical School. He continued his education with a Master of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.
