I have been active as a Project manager in the Optic Fiber installation network for Dark Fiber Africa the last 4 Years. I have been dealing with contractors, daily activity reports, stats, health and safety issues, daily quality assurance, weekly feedback meetings, and progress reports.
I would run with the project from the planning stage, to site kick off meetings, wayleaves, Municipal regulations to the civil acceptance certificate issue.
I work together with all ILO's in the field, assisting in training new staff in this field.

Project manager: Dealing with Vodacom projects as main contractor to Alcatel. Supervising contractors doing civil works for Alcatel. Dealing with way leaves, concessions, works in progress, setting up progress reports and spreadsheets. Time management. Ordering materials and allocating to contractors. Miscellaneous items and change of scope on various sites, implementing Variation orders, DFA spec and quality assurance. Ordering materials, optic fibre cable, 7 way and 50mm ducting, joint enclosures, duct connectors. Updating spread sheets, liaising with municipal authorities, way leaves. Update weekly progress reports to Alcatel project manager. Invoicing.
Field project manager for Ph Bagale
Quality assurance on all Cell C, Vodacom, SANREN, MTN, Internet Solutions, and Non Cell access sites, in Northern Borders. Route spur builds, Make sure contractors stays in spec, inspection of site, trenches, materials used, executed as planned, staying within the DFA spec.
Progress updates, doing civil acceptances on completed projects, listing and conforming to repairs of snags, liaising with the Project manager's office. Weekly updates, attending DFA meetings, liaising with main contractors, assisting better means of executing projects.
Make sure there is only one level of subcontracting, checking site files, OSHC health and safety, all site diaries are accurate and correct.
Assuring correct methods and procedures are adhered to by all.
Ascertaining all way leaves are correct and valid, before work commences. Site and route kick off meetings.
Starting my career at Telkom in 1989, I studied electrical engineering at PE Technikon during 1986/87, where after I enrolled for national service for 2 years during1987/88. I done various courses and done my junior leaders, and became an instructor for national intakes.

This project involves the installation of an optic fiber network for Dark Fiber Africa. The project has many different aspects, as the Routes will be done on individual contracts. Some are 5km, some are 120km, all in the areas that these routes are planned, they all link up eventually, from long haul to shorter routes, with many different contractors. these all involve the installation of duct configuration as the customer desires according to spec. The placing of Hand holes, for joints, and accessibility, and maintenance. All quality on installation is done by us.
Providing daily updates, risk issues, and progress reports. the project will be signed off by me, and a Civil acceptance certificate will be issued to contractors, and the completed project will be handed over to DFA.
